Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Shapiro.
Hi Morgan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello everyone! My name is Morgan Shapiro and I fell in love with fitness at the age of 15. As young kid I danced several days a week but when I stopped I knew I needed a way to stay in shape so I decided to sign up for a weightlifting class in school. I immediately fell in love with exercise, program design, nutrition, and all the mental health benefits that came with it. I knew right away that this was the career I wanted to pursue. I wanted to help as many people as possible achieve a better quality of life through health and fitness.
After high school, I went on to attend college at Florida State University where I studied psychology and spent some time working in the sport psychology lab. I knew that understanding the mental struggles that athletes and general population face around exercise and behavior change was crucial to my success. Giving someone an exercise program is one thing but understanding what it takes for them to adhere to it is another. I became a certified personal trainer at the age of 18 (during my sophomore year of college) and have been a trainer ever since. In my 11 years of experience, I’ve worked with clients between the ages of 14 and 94 and have taught many different types of group fitness classes.
After college, I started working at an upscale corporate gym in Weston, Florida and a few years later I transitioned to private training. I now train clients privately and in 2021 I launched my own coaching app where I have the opportunity to work with clients from anywhere in the world. On my app, clients have access to workout programs, meal plans, mental health tips, and a community of like-minded people who are on a similar journey. Along with my in-person and online coaching, I work as a contributor for Local 10’s television show- SoFlo Health where I share tips on workouts, nutrition, and much more.
Although this entrepreneur path is quite the hustle, I can honestly say that I LOVE what I do. I am so thankful I get to wake up every day and help others become the best versions of themselves all while expressing my creativity and passion.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth road but I learned some of the most valuable lessons through all of the hardships. Some of the struggles I faced along the way were:
- Trying to find a gym after college where I could not only learn and get clients but also receive the payment I deserved. Unfortunately, not all gyms are created equal and some big box gyms just view their trainers as a number. The place I decided to work at was very different and I thrived in that environment.
- Finding the right people to partner with as I developed my app. At first, I hired a freelancer, where I spent a lot of time and money and didn’t get the product that I thought I’d receive. It wasn’t for another year or so that I found the right team to make it happen.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Morganic Lifestyle?
Morganic Lifestyle is a health and wellness brand dedicated to improving the lives of others through fitness, nutrition, and mental health. I offer in-person one-on-one and group personal training sessions in the South Florida area. Along with my in-person training, I do corporate wellness events such as company workouts and lunch-and-learn presentations.
In addition to my in-person training, I offer online coaching through my Morganic Lifestyle app which can be found at www.morganiclifestyle.com. This platform allows me to reach people from all over the world. With the app, you can train with me on your time, no matter where you’re located.
I am a certified personal trainer and pain-free performance specialist but almost all of my clients do some form of resistance training. I’m all about finding what the client enjoys then mixing that with what they need to improve their fitness and prevent injury. To me, a well-rounded program will include some weightlifting, cardio, mobility work, and fun! At the end of the day, I want my clients to make improvements in their movement and fall in love with the process. My programs are not a quick fix but rather a path to a healthy and sustainable lifestyle change.
I think what sets me apart from others is my level of empathy. I understand that I’m dealing with real people with many emotions, good and bad days. It’s all about adjusting and adapting to what life throws at us so we can continue to grow. I feel as though my passion and understanding of people really sets me apart from other fitness programs out there.
Brand-wise, I am most proud of the fact that I’ve always stayed true to who I am. I am my brand, and I won’t lie or recommend something to my clients that I don’t believe in myself.
I want readers to know that my work is my passion, and because of that, I am constantly working to improve myself, my skills as a coach, and my online platform so my clients will continue to have life-changing results and an exceptional overall experience.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
People need people. Connection is so important, and it was during the pandemic that I really understood the importance of connection on health. Being surrounded by link-minded people who support you is crucial to happiness. I hope to continue to foster that in the Morganic Lifestyle community.
