Hi Katrina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was always dreaming of doing something on my own. At that moment in my life, I pursued a hobby of painting, not knowing it would be a career. As time went by, I was getting better and better at it, and I discovered a talent that I never thought I had. Long story short, I end up walking into a gallery one day, asking to give a presentation. I walked out of those galleries with disappointment but renewed vigor. I’m not a quitter, so I continued practicing and experimenting with new styles.
Over the years I’ve developed my techniques and decided to open my gallery and help others that pursue the same goals that all artists strive for. I’ve opened my doors to up-and-comers and established artists alike. Now that I’ve seen many of those artists that came to me first and worked with me, many of whom have branched out to the next level in their artistic careers, I can safely say that I’m doing something right. I’m proud.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Besides being turned down by the high-end galleries, the pandemic came along and hurt small businesses everywhere. I pushed myself even further to help others like me by hosting exhibitions and events. Doing everything in my power to get people’s names out there while marketing my gallery.
We’ve been impressed with Katrina Moldova Gallery, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Katrina Moldova Boutique Gallery was founded in Boca Raton for the exhibition and promotion of emerging and unrecognized artists with a primary focus on eclectic mixed media with a contemporary modern, abstract twist. Katrina Moldova Gallery also has an online store called www.BoutiqueGallery.Store which is an online art gallery. At this moment, the gallery has a warehouse, acting as office space, and a private showroom located in Boca Raton.
There, art collectors can book an appointment to view and purchase artwork that has been chosen from the website. We also offer in-home viewings and real estate stagings! In our gallery, you can find many interesting pieces made by many award-winning artists with styles ranging from abstract, pop art & surrealism to contemporary. As many galleries around town know, our gallery is a New York-style, Soho-type industrial warehouse hidden from the public eye in the heart of Boca Raton less than a mile away from Mizner Park. The warehouse space is converted to a gallery presence, it’s worth the trip to stop by!
At this moment, our gallery represents twenty-two artists and many more are on the waiting list to be represented by Katrina Moldova because space is limited. With this all said, what sets us apart from others is the personal relationship between the artist and the owner, since I’m an artist, just like them. Adding on to that, Katrina’s gallery collaborates with musicians, dancers, and DJs for upcoming events.
What makes you happy?
I’m a happy person in general. What makes me even happier is knowing that I can help others in advancing their artistic careers. And even happier when I can sell their artwork on their behalf. I’m a giver by nature, I enjoy pleasing others and getting out of my way for good reason. And of course, being a mother, I’m happy when spending quality time with my children and dog at home.
