Check out Pilar Honorato’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pilar Honorato.

Pilar, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Since I could remember I’ve always loved to draw and paint, when I was in high school I took an art class where I had to do a portrait, I did it with such dedication and passion that the end results where really good , family and friends started asking me to do portraits of their own and that’s when I knew that art was my future.

After graduating from University I moved to Boston where I started taking painting classes, I then moved to Miami where I ended up taking more painting classes and after a little while I realized I wanted to do it full time.

Now  I have even more love for art because I realized that I was able to raise awareness about environmental issues through my art.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I love to paint big colorful abstract paintings that create happiness, that makes the viewer happy.

I like that my paintings have a lot of meaning behind every stroke and that there’s meaningful thoughts that you have to discover.

Now I am making a purpose out of my art, I am trying to send a message to the world about the environment and its fragile state. Every painting talks about a different environmental topic, such as Habitat Fragmentation, Seeds won’t find their soil, Everyday less green areas,  ocean and plastic. I hope every painting makes the viewer interested in knowing more about its theme, make a conversation start and even better raise their awareness.

Have things improved for artists? What should cities do to empower artists?
I think that today it’s easier for artists to be discovered through social media but it is also harder due to more competition.  Since there are so many artists showing their work online, it is also difficult for people to differentiate and understand each artist’s proposal and values.

Miami has become an exciting place to discover new artists and trends. Art Basel, and all satellite exhibitions make Miami a key art city in the world.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
Just finished my website:  www.artpilarhonoratopaintings.com , so happy about it, you can find a lot of surprises there. Also through  my Instagram @artpilarhonorato.

And I will exhibit again this year in Miami Art Basel.
