Florida Solar Partners was the brainchild of Partners Seth Requena and Frank Rosa. Seeing how far behind the State of Florida was lagging, they decided to take action. You see approximately around 3% of the state uses solar today. The keyword in the name is “Partners!” Our approach is to develop partnerships throughout the entire state to meet our energy goals.
Florida Solar Partners is a Florida homegrown business utilizing the top of line tier 1 system to provide top-quality installations. We believe that Solar is the Future, and the Future is Now! Florida Solar Partners has found that one of the key indicators why more people in Florida are not going solar is because the lack of education and understanding of the benefits of going solar. Florida Solar Partners is working to change that with Sunny, Eartha and Phottie. With our Team and our characters, we will make our mark in the Sunshine State. We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road ahead looks extremely bright and Sunny! None the less it has been very challenging in the sense that most home and business owners are very timid at moving forward. In our expectations, we figured the decision-making process was going to be shorter. In actuality, it is taking homeowners and business owners approximately six months to make the decision of going solar. In addition to that most of the county permitting offices are taking a long time to approve the installation. Some county permitting offices are taking four or more months to approve the request.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Aside from my family, what motives me the most is to be creative in sales, marketing and promotions. You see the story of Sunny came to life in a conversation with my youngest daughter Chloe. She is an incredible artist and I asked her to come up with a drawing of the sun and something else and to be creative. What she came up with has taken off. We currently sponsor “Sunny’s Reading Corner” for Kiddo’s Magazine in Miami. In connection with the Publisher of Kiddo’s Magazine, we are working in writing and publishing the Story of Sunny to educate our young ones in the importance of all working together in doing our part in saving “Eartha”. The sky is the limit when it comes to “Sunny”! Pun totally intended.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up all I was interested in was sports. I loved the thrill of the competition. I began lifting and training since I was 15 years old. Then I became focused on bodybuilding and at age 17, I did my first competition. It was to me the ultimate individual sport. In 1992 due to a car accident, the dreams of bodybuilding ended. I still exercise to stay healthy but my focus now is family. I have one grandson and another one on the way, that’s enough to keep me busy.
