Today we’d like to introduce you to Cipri.
Cipri, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started off as a songwriter about ten years ago with BMI (Broadcast Music Inc). I was constantly writing and melodies never leave my head.
After graduating from Florida Atlantic University with a degree in linguistics and a minor in Spanish, I then went to Universidad del Pais Vasco in Spain (the Basque Country) where I continued studying the connection between language and music in the brain. I received my master’s degree in 2017.
During this time, I was visiting recording studios in Spain to learn more about the process of recording and how the music industry functions on a global scale. I had recorded dozens of demos by myself, but I continued with my personal persistence because I knew I had something to offer.
I then recorded my first official demo at Miami Beach Recording Studios in Miami. During the pandemic, I took it upon myself to utilize social media to spread the word about my music. In the middle of the pandemic, I signed a record deal with Bentley Records. I was constantly posting videos of me singing on Instagram, and one of their A&R’s found me. As an artist, this record label is everything I could have ever wanted, so I signed with Bentley Records. It’s really fascinating to see the power of social media!
Because things were so chaotic during the first several months of the pandemic, I really wanted to utilize everything Bentley Records was offering, so I recorded a song in my parent’s basement in the mountains because there were no studios operating at that time. I had probably recorded this song over 50 times. I really wanted to release something for my fans and followers, so I released my first single with Bentley Records titled “Woke”. To my surprise, “Woke” got a ton of attention and I got an offer from Universal Music Group to license the song.
I was then featured on the hit album “Miungu Ya Muziki” on the song “Good Life”. Gucci Mane, Luca Dayz (my CEO) and so many other amazing artists are featured on this album. The album went on to officially chart on the Amazon charts, Apple Music Charts, and iTunes charts in 10 countries.
I then released another song titled “Rendezvous”, which is on the Arcane Music Compilation, featuring Future, Bow Wow, The Game, and a ton of other really talented artists! We just reached number 1 on the iTunes charts in Belgium last week with this album, and I am really excited for what’s next! I really feel incredibly blessed that I am charting alongside so many established and credible artists.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Struggles along the way…I suppose you could say that, yes. What I’ve learned is to never take no for an answer. Persistency is key with anything that you want to achieve. I was told “no” so many times, but I didn’t let someone else’s opinion determine my talent, strength, or destiny.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an artist signed with Bentley Records. I have charted on the official music charts in over 10 countries. I write my own music, and I produce music for others too. I am most proud of my career in the music industry in general. I will admit though, catching the attention of Universal Music Group was a proud moment for me for my single “Woke”.
What sets me apart from others? I suppose my vocal agility is one aspect. I also have synesthesia, so all sounds have a color for me.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck. I believe that anyone can be “lucky” if they believe this down in the core essence of their soul. You attract what you believe you are capable of. If you focus on negative energy or bad luck, you’ll be stuck in that cycle.
