Check Out DJ Stakz’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ Stakz.

Hi DJ Stakz, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born in Brooklyn, New York of proud Haitian roots. Influenced by my father, a musician and a DJ as well along with my older brother, who introduced me to dance hall and hip hop, I found my love of music and knew at an early age that I wanted to pursue it as a career and make a name for myself.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In the beginning, one of the major obstacles was convincing my parents that I wanted to turn my craft into a career. Throughout my career, I have been blessed with opportunities and turned any challenge into triumph. I have mastered the art of studying crowds and trends in music. I use setbacks as motivation to work smarter and harder. One of my favorite sayings;

“Stay true to yourself, yet always be open to learn. Work hard and never give up on your dreams, even when nobody else believes they can come true, but YOU. ”

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Prior To COVID-19, I was able to travel the world and play amongst artists such as: Rick Ross, DJ Khaled, Wyclef Jean, J. Cole, Mobb Deep, Cardi B., Meek Mill, and many others. Also, graced the stages of some of the biggest Urban/Caribbean festivals: Curlfest, Rolling Loud, Orlando Caribbean Festival, Uber Soca Cruise, New York Labor Day Kompas Fest, just to name a few, and halftime performance at The Barclays Center in Brooklyn for the Brooklyn Nets and Toronto Raptors game. In 2018, I became brand ambassador for Monster Energy Drink and a DJ on the Monster Music Roster. I started my company Hi-Profyle Music Group, H.P.M.G/HPMG Events, to bridge together the Urban, Caribbean and Haitian demographic with events like; Spring Break Haiti, the largest spring break event in Haiti, HPMG Miami Takeover Week(end) and many others. 2020 was a very challenging year. With in-person events being cancelled or postponed and venues being shut down, the virtual world became my stage. I created a series of virtual events known as “The Antidote Live Mix’ and was a featured DJ, playing live sets on the following social media platforms: Vibe Magazine, VP Records, Audiomack, DigiWaxx, Rhum Barbancourt, Kreyol Essence, US Census 2020 and I Am CaribBeing.
