Check out Andrew Dymburt’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Dymburt.

Andrew, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
When I was a teenager, I was diagnosed with Type-1 Diabetes. It was the most difficult time in my life for me and my family. It changed everything. It took years to get it under control and try to live a “normal” life. I’m still trying and fighting every day. Working to achieve goals while balancing major health challenges only motivates me more to get out, accomplish all I can and never make excuses.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I tell stories for a living. I do my best to give a voice to those who may not have the platform to do so themselves. From investigative assignments, to asking tough questions, I try my best to be transparent and hold people or organizations accountable for their actions and decisions. In an age where “fake news” is too common a phrase thrown around — honesty and integrity in journalism is a must. There is no room for error. I hope everyone I encounter through my work takes away my passion, dedication and desire to do right by them and make sure their story makes an impact.

The sterotype of a starving artist scares away many potentially talented artists from pursuing art – any advice or thoughts about how to deal with the financial concerns an aspiring artist might be concerned about?
Look, as someone who paid their own way through college (an expensive one at that, University of Miami) I know all too well about financial burdens and challenges. The biggest question I had to ask myself coming out of college was “should I follow my passion or should I just get a ‘regular’ job?” The answer was and always will be — follow your passion. The finances will come, if you fully commit to your passion. I’d encourage anyone reading this to talk to someone who you find successful in the field you are pursuing.

I can all but guarantee you they will tell you the same thing: they didn’t do it for the money. That said, it was never easy. There was a time where I was a broke, freelancer who didn’t know where my next paycheck was coming from or if I was going to make rent. I used it as motivation to get going and learn as much as I could and work harder than anyone around me. Do what you love. Be the best at it and never look back.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
