Art & Life with Natalie Diaz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Diaz.

Natalie, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
My photography journey began ever since I was little, always interested in art and colors. I immigrated to Miami from Cartagena, Colombia on 2006 and enrolled in a photography class in High school. After graduating high school I decided I was going to study graphic design, where I learned a lot about editing using Photoshop. I graduated as a graphic designer and that’s something that adds great value to the way I edit my photos. So far I’ve had the pleasure of taking photography jobs for weddings, families, bands, babies, maternity sessions, etc.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I take and edit photography. I use Photoshop and light room to convert simple photos to pieces of art, like for example a very sunny overexposed shot into a starry night landscape. It’s a long process and a lot of hours of editing but it’s worth it at the end, to get people’s reactions. I wish for my art to be seen by a lot of people and young people that want to get into photography or graphic design to inspire them into better things.

What responsibility, if any, do you think artists have to use their art to help alleviate problems faced by others? Has your art been affected by issues you’ve concerned about?
A lot of things are going on in the world today, both good and bad. But I love the fact that artists all around the world have the ability to communicate ideas through art and can show their work online and network with other artists. I love the fact that although there are so many bad things happening all the time, I can go online and see my favorite photographer (that doesn’t even speak English) that lives across the world, post an amazing picture that makes me feel better.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
My work can be seen mostly on Instagram at noubaphotography. I would love for people that see my work, to comment and let me know what they think 🙂
