Rising Stars: Meet Odalys Martinez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Odalys Martinez.

Hi Odalys, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have always wanted more from the age of 14 when I started my first job. Whenever I saw the opportunity to make more money I took it. My dream since forever was to open a boutique offering my exclusive line of Pajamas/loungewear, along with pieces that women can wear from the office to happy hour. I truly believe that we should keep ourselves up regardless if we are home or on the go. When you look good, you feel good, and so that was my mission. To make it effortless for woman to look and feel good even when lounging in their home. That is when JewelsBIjou was born. You can go over to JewelsBijou.shop to check it out. That brings me to starting my career in real estate. I needed the funds to open up my shop. I thought hmmmmm, how can I make a lump sum of money in a short amount of time. My brother-in-law is a top seller in NJ (where I am from) He is killing it. I thought I can do it too. So I did. Let me tell you. It is NOT easy. You have people’s lives, dreams, and goals in your hands. There are laws you have to abide by. If your not on top of things and know what you are doing your clients can lose money. That is beside the point. I took the course, passed the test, and began my journey in real estate. I fell in love. I get such a high when I help my clients cross that finish line. There is no better feeling. I am grateful I did not let fear of failing or me not knowing if I would be good at it or even find people I can help. I just did it!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are never not any bumps in the road. The biggest challenge is finding people to help. It requires you to put yourself out there and network, tell people what you do and how you can help them. That has been my biggest challenge being that I was an introvert, very shy, not sure of my strengths and value I add.

I started working on my mindset a few years ago. That changed everything for me.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a local realtor servicing all of South Florida. I specialize in first-time homebuyers, however, I help investors purchase income properties, I help people who are relocating have a stress-free transition, I simplify the home selling journey for those who are selling.

I am proud of my growth. I am proud that anything I put my mind to, I accomplish it.

I really have a passion for what I do, I treat every client as I would want someone to treat my loved ones. I go above and beyond. My communication is A1, and I treat every transaction with the excitement and care that I did my very first one.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
You are going to fail at things, don’t beat yourself up. It is a learning experience. Take what you learned from that and do better. GROW!
