Meet Reggie Miller

Today we’d like to introduce you to Reggie Miller. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Silenmara started with two members of a band called exit 13 (Adrian -drummer and Jason- guitarist) who decided that they wanted to go a different direction with their music and writing. Reggie (vocalist) ended up joining the band after answering the same Craigslist ad twice. The first time, he came by and started to write with them, but it quickly took a hiatus as he wanted to finish school and by doing so would free more time to brand a commitment towards music. The three of them fell out of touch for a brief period and as Reggie was looking for a band to join, he ended up answering the same ad they that had up the first time. Not realizing it, Reggie showed back up and everything looked so familiar… that familiarity now stood for nearly 14 years now of commitment. The addition of Boris (bass) and Marcus (guitarist) rounded out the full capable sound of Silenmara. They gave the group a certain energy to follow and their writing abilities improved over the years branding a classic melodic death metal sound that has kept their fans loyal and always excited to hear more.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Life has its ups and downs. It would be a lie if we said it’s been a smooth road. We’ve been a band for so long that we’ve experienced death, disease, weather threats, bad management, bad shows, bad relationships, and sometimes, bad food. Hell, we’ve been through a worldwide pandemic and still remained. We’ve also had great experiences like our kids being born and the extended family life we have with each other. It’s been nearly 14 years so there’s definitely been some struggles along the way. But it has molded us to be resilient. We never gave up and just used our challenges to our advantage and persevered through them all. The most challenging ones are when we lose family and how this brotherhood shows its true nature when we all show up for each other, fills the void of what’s occurred and that means so much to each of us to be there for each other. As family. We’ve struggled in writing, having times where we felt we aren’t good enough or have had enough bad riffing or personal experience to just put our instruments down for a while but our music lives in us so much that it’s inevitable to find our place once the clouds dissipate.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
You can find our music on all major platforms and we have a plethora of videos on YouTube that could satisfy your needs for some melodic death metal in your life. We have always been proud of our work, but we are most proud of our recent work starting with our latest album “A darkened visionary” to our newly written songs in our upcoming releases. We released a song named “ I, the specimen” on April 29th as part of the first of many releases coming your way towards the end of the year. Our direction in music has pretty much stayed the same, we are just… simply… better. What sets us apart from others is the humility we have. Although our live shows can be absolute bonkers, we’ve never let the excitement of others get to our heads. We thoroughly enjoy making music and performing… it’s what keeps our fans there and loyal and keeps us grinding for a chance to show the rest of the world what we have to offer. And a soundtrack to your life is what we are looking to provide.

How do you think about luck?
We don’t play in luck too much. But we also don’t discredit it. We have been very fortunate to have shared the stage with many bands like Amaranthe, Soulfly, fear factory, scar symmetry, GWAR, nonpoint unearth…it just keeps going and I’m sure it won’t stop anytime soon, but I don’t believe luck had anything to do with it. We’ve worked very hard, bringing our music to people and execs the best way we know how. If we were to consider luck, I’d say the luck we have extends to the fans and family who have tried to help us and continue to do so. I believe we are very lucky to have those people in our lives and involved in our camp.
