Today we’d like to introduce you to Rauf Khoffner.
Rauf, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m a third generation brewmaster following my father’s and grandfather’s footsteps. My grandfather left Germany in 1933 running from Hitler’s government. Turkish government offered him manage big brewing facility. My father followed his steps and worked all his life at the same place. I’m the first member of my family who was born in Turkey and the first who established own beer production under my family’s last name ten years ago.
Since Turkish government started giving a hard time to all alcohol producers a few years ago, we decided to relocate to the US. We picked FL because so far there was not a big competition in this field. We producing a big range of products, such as IPAs, stouts, ales, but we became popular because of our traditional European lagers and ales brewed according to family recipes, and German Beer Purity Law.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road was pretty smooth so far since we relocated to the USA.
Khoffner Brewery – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
As we said before, our biggest difference from other great breweries down here is our huge experience in any kind of lagers production.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment is when Khoffner brewery starts getting a lot of support from local establishments and consumers, who loved our products.
