Today we’d like to introduce you to Naomi Manning.
Naomi, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Let me start off by giving honor to GOD, who is the head of my life, who has brought me through every tunnel, and who has place stepping stones throughout my journey. About 22 years ago, I was blessed with a position in healthcare as a registrar in a well-known facility in the Washington, DC area. Now keep in mind this was never something I thought I would be doing, coming from a hospitality background. I had never had any experience working in the healthcare field before and had NO idea what it was about. My best friend at the time encouraged me to apply for the position, I applied, went on the interview, and aced it! I was very proud of myself.
About a year or so after obtaining the position as a registrar, I was promoted to a Financial Counselor, in the same facility, worked in the position for another year and a half. Fast forward some years. I acquired a position as a Verification/Eligibility Supervisor for two organizations back to back. Soon after, I decided I wanted to advance my career, so I registered and took a medical billing and coding class. I received my certification and accepted a position at a local hospital in Florida working as a biller, coder, and collector. From that point on, I said to myself this is something different and challenging, I enjoyed every minute of it. Years had passed, I left there accepting a promotional position as a Team Leader for another big company in Florida where I worked for some time.
Here is where I really started evolving and putting everything I had learned into action. I then moved on and became the Billing Manager for a Cardiology Group and then the Practice Manager for a Urology Group. There’s a saying “people see in you what you do not see in yourself.” December of 2019, I received a call from my son Shamal, he said: “Mom, I think you should start your own Medical Billing Company, I’m tired of you working for people and being unhappy.” I was like “Shamal, I don’t know if I can do that I’ve never owned a business before.” He said, “Ma, you don’t know if you don’t try,” I said ok.
In January 2020, MD-PRAC, LLC, was formed. Not knowing the first step of owning a company, all my research was put to the test. I knew it was official when I received my tax id number because, at this point, I was like there’s no turning back now. I am now the Owner & CEO of MD-PRAC, LLC.
Has it been a smooth road?
Life does not have any smooth roads and if anyone says it does there are not living. My journey has been a rough one; however, my GOD never took his hand off of me. For a long time, I tried to figure out who I was and what I wanted out of my life. Not knowing how to define my being, made my life very hard. I had always looked to others for approval and made sure everyone knows who I was and how great of a job I had done. Life has really shown me over the years that I am who I am and only GOD’s approval is needed. NO LIMITS NO BOUNDARIES!
The only challenge I am facing is not being able to market my brand as I could due to COVID-19. However, I’m finding other avenues to reach out to clients.

MD-PRAC, LLC was originally located in West Palm Beach, we are now located in Port St. Lucie, FL. We are not only serving the State of Florida but the entire United States. With my 22 years of being in the healthcare industry, the experience and knowledge I attained have permitted me to achieve the goal of becoming an entrepreneur striving for SUCCESS.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
West Palm Beach, unlike Port St. Lucie, is very busy. There’s always something to do, never a dull moment. There are also plenty of opportunities here. Port St. Lucie on the other hand, is more laid back and slow-paced, very “suburbish.” Both areas are full of opportunities, you just have to get hooked up with the RIGHT people. I LOVE IT HERE!!!!
