Meet Luccas Soares of IHC – International House of Cinema in Ironside Miami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luccas Soares.

Luccas, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
To make this presentation a little more interesting, I present to you The Video Of My Life Until Now [2017]:

It’s a nice way to learn how I’ve started. It was always a challenge to summarize in a few minutes the story of my life. I have lived crazy things and had life-changing experiences very young.

The Video Of My Life Until Now is a walk through 27 years of my life. It’s 10 minutes of many stories and many dreams.

Now, it’s 2019 and it’s time for an update. Two years have passed at a fast pace.

In 2018, I have expanded the operations of my film company IHC (International House of Cinema) to the US after an incredible project we have done with Miami DDA in 2018 called “The Real Downtown Miami”. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTxZG-jCYik&t=1s) We were chosen to represent Miami in the Amazon race for the construction of its 2nd HQ in the United States. The film helped Miami to be on the top 20 list of Amazon and was a Finalist at the Adobe Creativity Government Awards in 2018, Visual Communications – Motion and Video.

One of the biggest achievements of the company recently was signing the deal to produce a documentary to share the story of Knight Foundation, one of the biggest foundations in the US.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We usually only analyze the peak-end in our lives, so since our expansion to the US it feels like things are playing in a very pleasant way but of course, it wasn’t always like this.

To be an artist or an entrepreneur in Brazil and in South America you need to learn how to deal with a huge amount of failures and frustration. Learn how to navigate the culture, deal with the famous lack of trust every single day and get ready to reinvent yourself whenever is necessary. It’s a journey to survive into the jungle. There are different challenges to be faced and most definitely the level of uncertainty that fulfills the atmosphere.

Please tell us about IHC – International House of Cinema.
I like to present myself as a connector of places and stories, a creator of feelings and experiences. Not better than anyone, it’s not my intention. I don’t see my work and my craft as a competition.

An openness to the unfamiliar guides me to the stories I tell and the formats through which I tell them. During my world travels (I’ve explored 44 countries so far), I collect ideas and encounters, the treasures that inspire my work.

As a multidisciplinary artist, I recognize that each story has a distinct pulse and requires a unique medium to give it life. Part of my process is to examine each idea and consider how best to deliver the story. I use words, music, performance, and film—sometimes all together—to craft pieces that connect people and share new ways of thinking.

With each creation, I want my work to be a bridge between the story’s original inspiration and the audience’s consciousness.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
The person that I am today only happened because of my early mistakes. Everything I’ve done wrong in my life helped me to be better and to overcome my fears. I’m not done changing so I still have a long path ahead of me. I don’t regret my journey, it’s a part of who I am.
