Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeri Rosenthal and Paul Terry Edwards.
Jeri and Paul Terry, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My partner Paul and I were in the same world of design but on different paths when our worlds merged. I had been working in the design industry since 1989 in the family business and Paul started his career a few years later in 1993 with the top architectural design firms in the country.
In 2009 my father had decided to continue his design career but only to cater to his residential clients as he was nearing retirement, MRA Design opened an office in 2009 in the Miami Shores. Paul had just gone out on his own starting his own interior design business and found himself renting space in MRA Designs new offices.
Our business had picked up and Paul was there to jump in and take the reigns of our interior design work… and the rest is history. The last 8 years Paul and I have embarked on the design journey as a team. Our office is located in the heart of downtown Miami.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The interior design business is not always a smooth road and it has its challenges but is also very rewarding. We are constantly having to reinvent ourselves as the industries and markets are changing. Retail design had previously been a strong focus for us over the past years. However, that market has shifted away from brick and mortar stores to the convenience of online shopping.
We have now expanded our focus to include more commercial, hospitality, institutional and some residential design. There is the constant challenge of keeping up with the ongoing shift in all of these markets.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I guess if I have to pick one it would be an accomplishment more than a moment. Our firm had a retail client for 23 years. We did all of their stores throughout the entire country and did several new prototype designs for them over those 23 years.
Unfortunately, it was a sad day when they filed for bankruptcy 2 years ago. I pride myself on being able to keep many clients happy and having them come back time after time. The completion of every project is a proud moment when you can see the joy on your clients face. – Jeri
I had designed a new location for my client’s business a couple of years ago. I was recently having dinner with this client and group of people. When I asked him how business was going, he proceeded to tell the group that my design has transformed his business and that all of his clients compliment the new look.
He thanked me again for helping him take his business to the next level and making him more successful. I am most proud when I can contribute to my client’s success. – Paul
