Today we’d like to introduce you to Daryn.
Daryn, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was 21 when I opened Feel The Heal. Prior to that I was in a midwifery program and had also obtained my massage license to specialize in pregnancy care. I called it boot camp midwifery ( because you were on call at any time) and by the time a 3-year program was almost done I realized it was a demanding career and was too young to handle the 24/7 on call schedule at only 18 years old. I started working in spas and also obtained my facial/ Esty license and little by little I built a good following and rented office space from a fellow therapist who practiced colon therapy.
I wasn’t a stranger to that therapy as it was taught to me while I was in school for massage and I got them in my personal life after learning about them. Years went on and my passion for internal cleansing and nutrition became obvious and I went back to school to become a colon therapist. With all these licenses under my belt and a great folllowing I was ready to open my own place and in 2001 Feel The Heal was born in our first office in Aventura.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well considering I had no buisness degrees or buisness knowledge I pretty much dove in head first. In 2001 social media didn’t exist like it does now so marketing for me meant printing my own cards and flyers and passing them out to businesses by hand. Making calls and connecting with people. Creating my own website on my own.
It took time and energy. Looking back I’m so happy I was so motivated to make Feel The Heal a success because here I am 17 years later and we are still up and running and still kicking butt! Has it been a smooth ride? Not always …. but in the end, it was sure worth it.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Feel The Heal – what should we know?
Where to start … I would say Feel The Heal was at first for years known for our detoxes. We specialize in colon therapy aka colonic irrigation . We always say “ we are #1 in a #2 industry” As well we sell delicious raw juices for clients to fast with and offer a ton of off the wall alternative detoxes like Ear Candling , Foot Ion Detox, facials, liver/gallbladder detoxing, Castor oil packing , teeth whitening .
Over the last few years, I’m proud of our growth as we moved our business from Aventura to Miami after 14 years of business there. Since then we have introduced a ton of new beauty treatments and are now a well rounded center for health and beauty. We offer an alternative to lash extensions called eyelash lifting as well as eyebrow microblading and Dermaplaning . Our new Miami office has a laid back energy where our clients feel at home . It’s not white-walled or medical it’s a bit funky, young& current and we are loving it here so much
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think just being real and honest with people is important. As well as being patient and understanding. I try to make detoxing fun. Getting a colonic isn’t “ fun” but we make it fun and it’s important to me when clients leave our office and say “ that wasn’t bad at all” or “ you made my experience a good one” that to me is success.
As well as putting clients at ease and comfortable when getting a beauty treatment. I love when clients know they can relax when they get here or take a cat nap or lash nap as we call it. They come to unwind and feel good and to FEEL THE HEAL so I’m happy we can provide that for them.
