Meet Erika Sanchez of Miami Centerpieces

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erika Sanchez.

Erika, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
At the time, I was a property manager. I would decorate my friends birthday and events for fun. I got pregnant with my first child in 2008 and decided I no longer was inspired to spend my time anywhere else that was not home and that was not 100 percent for me.

My friend Alex, a Marketing Director, was getting married with a list of 500 guests at that time.  Like Many in the service industry, that was my first pro bono wedding.  The wedding was a success and I got a couple of referrals after that. Which led me to build my portfolio and now have a bustling floral company.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting a company can be intimidating, especially if you are clueless on how to price & maintain a perishable good. I did not go to Design school, nor did I ever work for a Florist.  All I knew was that I could design and put something nice together from my two bedroom apartment at the time.

I’ve learned thru  reading, research and of course, trial and error.

I’ve spent endless hours doing research on how to start a Floral business  and how to individually take care of each specific flower. I have to say, my biggest struggle was learning Fresh flower care.

Please tell us about Miami Centerpieces.
Miami Centerpieces specializes in all types of styles. However, I think my look is very feminine, clean and sexy. Even when I use greens or tropical leaves, I maintain a clean look.

What sets us apart from others is our fun service and attention to detail. Yes, we all have different styles. but I think what really sets us apart is the confidence, bold, and fun attitude towards anything that we create. I believe it shows in our centerpieces.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing, everything has been a learning  situation and I couldn’t be happier at this very moment. And I can’t wait to see what’s to come…
