So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started with my first restaurant ” La Mision” when I was 24 in Madrid Spain. I had no experience in the industry but I loved it and I knew that with consistency and a good team I was going to be able to achieve anything that I put the mind into so I started my journey with my mothers help. After a few years of hard work I was ready to open my second restaurant ” El Recuerdo” followed by “El Olvido”. All these three restaurants are still open in Madrid. In 1997 I decided to move to Miami and opened my first restaurant in the States, called Macarena in South Beach. Macarena was opened for 10 years until I sold it to open Dolores But You Can Call Me Lolita in the Brickell area.In 2007 I opened Crazy About You also in Brickell and in 2012 I opened Love Is Blind in Coral Gables. Recently I had the opportunity to open a Starbucks franchise at the Bond building in Brickell as well.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No road is a smooth road, there are always challenges that you have to face on a daily basis in life and in any business. Challenges combined with perseverance are good because they help us become stronger. The major challenges that I have faced have been economic crisis both in Spain and in the US back in 2008.

I do not believe in luck. I just believe that in order to achieve your dreams you need to work hard and be consistent every single day. You have to be obsessed with the details, never let your guard down, surround yourself with a good team and definitely after that luck will knock at your door.
