Today we’d like to introduce you to Blair White.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was driving in my car listening to talk radio when a caller suggested that each classroom have a throw out ladder, so in the event of an emergency the children could climb down the ladder and escape.
However, this call got me thinking about the procedures and policies that are in place in our schools today. I will never forget how the radio host belittled this gentleman by saying, “that is the stupidest idea I’ve ever heard.”
I remember telling myself how stupid it is to sit and wait for first responders. Although, heroic and helpful, they are implemented in the aftermath of such an immediate tragedy. There has to be a better way. And, the idea for Slide to Safety was born.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I can’t say that starting any business from the ground up is ever a smooth road but, if it were easy than everyone would do it. The things in life that are truly worth it never come easy and are generally worked very hard for.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Slide To Safety story. Tell us more about the business.
Slide to Safety ® (STS) is a patented rapid evacuation system (res) developed as an Alternative Method of Evacuation (AME™) from multiple story buildings. This revolutionary res allows for a safeguarded evacuation outlet when faced with multiple dangerous situations such as: fires, natural disasters, gas leaks or an active shooter situations. Slide to safety transforms a 2nd to 4th story window into a secure means of emergency egress.
I am the CEO and Founder of Slide To Safety. I’m not big on titles and there is nothing that I’m not involved in when it comes to STS. We specialize in alternative methods of evacuation. We are most proud of developing a product that will save lives. We are the only thing on the market of its kind so therefore, we really do not have any competition. Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I would have to say that it was by far good luck that no one had invented this type of product already and that we were granted the patent. I wouldn’t say we have had any bad luck.
