Today we’d like to introduce you to Astrid Ramirez. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Nossa Omakase is run by a couple of Sushi and Omakase lovers who thought Miami was in need of a better quality sushi experience. Back in 2020 (Before COVID) there was not much in the city for high-quality sushi and we wanted to add something to the city not only with much higher ingredients but at the same time a more fun and interactive experience than your traditional Omakase place.
Something that could match the vibrant and fun city that Miami is. Chef Sebastian Labno and his business partner (ex-wife) Astrid Ramirez run the restaurant every night making sure their guests have an unforgettable night.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has NOT been a smooth road at all. We opened 15 days before Covid so our restaurant was closed for almost a year after we opened again. After that, COVID has changed the City of Miami, and especially the city of Miami Beach tremendously bringing a big influx of New York and Los Angeles restaurants to compete with, but also residents from those cities who have raised the prices of rents, food, drinks, hotel rates, etc for all the locals that were here.
This led to a lot of workers leaving the city, locals not going out as much, and tourists not coming to the city as much as they used to before. The game is completely different now so a lot of small restaurants keep struggling to survive. We are one of them. Fortunately for us, our guests really love our concept and our food and we have built a regular and loyal clientele that keeps us motivated to go on every day.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a very different Omakase experience because we are NON-TRADITIONAL. This means we have no rules for our guests (normally Omakases have a lot of rules). We are also a very interactive experience where guests sit down at a circular counter and are encouraged to interact with the chef and other guests around them. The nights are vibrant, and fun, the music is upbeat, the laughs are always present and the conversations are never-ending.
What does success mean to you?
Success for us is measured in the amount of guests that keep coming back and leaving us positive reviews for others to see and come to visit us.
