Meet Alyssa Ege of Sail Away Media in Delray Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Ege.

Alyssa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
When I was 16 years old I built my first website. I’d always been pretty tech-savvy, but this was the first time I charged for my services. It was an eCommerce jewelry store… And I’d pay to see what it looks like now!

Fast forward a few years, and I was making (what seemed like) a small fortune as a freelance web designer through college. I realized I had a real knack for bringing people’s visions to life online.

After school, I landed a great job here in Delray Beach as a Web Assistant for a billion-dollar company. And within two years I had worked my way up to eCommerce Manager. I had a lot of fun at that job, but I realized my real passion was for helping small businesses grow online. That’s when I founded Sail Away Media. We started off as a web design company, but I wound up falling in love with Facebook Advertising. It was the perfect fit for me because it involves landing page design, creative development, copywriting, and data analysis.

A couple of years into running the business, a mentor of mine suggested we choose a niche to make our processes more streamlined. That’s when I went all-in on marketing for dental offices. Back in high school, I used to handle all the marketing for my father’s dental office. So it was the perfect fit for me.

Today we’re a team of five, and collectively, our team has worked with hundreds of clients. We’ve been able to achieve jaw-dropping results and are really passionate about helping dental offices grow their bottom-line.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When I started off, I had a lot of experience freelancing, but running a business was an entirely different ballgame. I had to learn accounting, sales skills, management, and so much more. There were times when I wanted to quit. I would think, “How much easier would it be to go back to a 9-5?” I’m so glad I never let that fear stop me.

We had one week where we lost three clients. As a small business owner, that kind of stuff is devastating. But what I’ve learned is that I can’t take things that go on within the business personally (as personal as it is).

A positive mindset has been instrumental in my success. I try to always look at the bright side and never take what I have for granted.

Sail Away Media – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We help dental offices bring in a steady flow of new patients by building out custom lead generation systems. This includes landing pages, funnels, Facebook and Instagram ads, email marketing, and text message marketing. One of our most incredible success stories is the time we were able to bring in 63 new patients for a Dental Implant Training Program in a span of just three months of working together.

I’m really proud of the results we’ve been able to achieve, and most of all, the fact that we’re changing lives. Not only are we able to relieve stress by taking office’s marketing off their hands. We’re connecting patients to dentists and saving smiles.

What sets us apart? We’re a small team and we’re heavily involved with our clients and the results they’re getting. No matter how much we grow, I always want to be hands-on. Every single one of my clients has my cell phone and the ability to shoot me a text if they have a question or concern. This doesn’t happen with a lot of marketing agencies.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was obsessed with all things technology. In 7th grade, I got called into the Principal’s office. I was terrified I was in trouble. Turns out, my mother was there to pick me up because she needed help with her computer. We joke about it to this day!

I’ve also always been really creative. I actually almost considered going to art school instead of business school.
