Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandria Angel.
Alexandria, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I grew up in a small town in South Carolina with a love for living on the coast. I have always had dreams of working in fashion and living life like I’m on vacation. This is where my story begins. Since I was a child, I have had an infatuation for the fashion industry.
In elementary school, while the other kids were playing on the playground, my girlfriends and I were sitting in a circle, sketching out dress designs. Fast forward to my twenties. I moved to Georgia to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design. I started out as a Fashion Design major, as well as a model and college volleyball player. I knew I had to narrow my focus, so once I realized where my heart was, I continued my modeling career, and I went on to receive my B.F.A. in Fashion Marketing and Management.
After college, I worked a few years for my favorite brand, Lilly Pulitzer, and even moved on to manage the store in the Outer Banks, North Carolina. This may have been a U-turn on my move down south, but my path became clearer when I was recruited to be a Sales Representative for Tori Richard Honolulu, out of the blue!
I made my way back to South Carolina to cover sales in the Mid-Atlantic region, heading anywhere from trade shows to even headquarters in Hawaii. It was definitely a grind being a ‘road warrior,’ but I loved the travel aspect and being able to further my career in fashion.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
While I was visiting accounts in Savannah, I was involved in a serious seven-car pile up on the interstate, as my car was hit three times into a concrete bridge. My car was totaled, and I headed to the hospital. I spent months recovering at home while I found out that the silver lining was being able to take the time to learn what was important, and where I really wanted to be in life. With help from my community, church, and of course, my family, I was able to get back on my feet and focus on my true calling.
My dream job has always been to work for the Lilly Pulitzer at the Breakers in Palm Beach. I was hesitant to apply, but I took a chance and they hired me on the spot and moved to West Palm a week later. That was a year ago. Now, not only do I have my ideal job, but I also finally get to live a life I’ve always wanted in a vacation destination. To top it off, I have been able to continue my modeling, as well as bring my focus on my fashion blog I have established over the years to the forefront. This is were ‘The Prep in Pink,’ comes along.
Please tell us about The Prep In Pink.
The Prep in Pink is a fashion-focused lifestyle blog that covers everything from fashion and beauty to home and travel. The blog was born back in 2015, and it has evolved with me as I have made my way to Palm beach in pursuit of living the prep life while painting the town pink along the way. I have also had the pleasure of networking with local bloggers in the area, which has served as a source for both creativity and collaboration for future projects.
So if you’re looking for an online destination for stylish inspiration and secrets of southern living, you will have come to the right place at theprepinpink.com.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
My mom always says there is no such thing as luck, just blessings. I am truly blessed in the life I have lived thus far and the opportunities that have opened up for me. While there are always moments of difficulty, I have always come out of them both stronger and with a good story!
