Meet Veronica Trollerud of Acupuncture Centers of South Florida in Coral Gables

Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Trollerud.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Veronica. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always been interested in the human body, it’s mechanics and functions. It is something we know so much about, yet still, we lack to fully understand in western medicine. Western medicine sees the body as science and individual moving parts. Traditional medicine goes much deeper and sees you as a sum of all your parts and works from the root of your body up.

I discovered that after beginning to study western medicine and getting frustrated at the lack of true knowledge and no one being able to satisfactory answer why?

I remembered on a trip to China during my mid-teens, that my mother and I went to China as tourists and decided to receive acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine in Beijing at one of the largest hospitals there. A team of doctors came to see us and did a very different type of evaluation on us. They looked at my tongue and felt my pulse and somehow started pointing to a chart and asking me questions about my digestion -even tho my chief complaint was knee pain. I always wondered about that. I set forth to seek the answer to why again and landed in a Masters Program in acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s our perception and decision on how we choose to handle life’s challenges, as we all have them. In the program, a few of the girls were mean and literally asked me why I was there wasting time. I suppose word got out that I was modeling at the time. The school decided to switch up the payment methods during my studies from monthly to per credit. This put quite the financial strain on me since I was in an accelerated program. Lastly, I took it upon myself to continue my studies in China upon completion. I set off to Shanghai to study for a year and a half. That part of my life was the greatest journey and experience I have ever had. Every day was a new adventure, new cases at the hospital and new obstacles to conquer, new language barriers, lots of international new friends. It forever changed my life.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Acupuncture Centers of South Florida – what should we know?
When I first began, I really had no vision. I knew I focused on women’s issues in China. I knew I wanted to be in Coral Gables and I knew I wanted to educate and teach people about their bodies and the basics of what we have lost through the business of our lives. I found the location and went from there. I ran a couple of specials and people started flooding thru the doors. By my third month, I was profiting and hiring staff. Whatever people asked for I said yes and went out and found the person that performed that service. The most popular request was to rub and stretch out aches and pains. I was so busy with acupuncture I hired a therapist to perform that service. He specializes in migraines, neuromuscular therapy and sports medicine.

He soon became so busy I hired a second one. A request came in for female only, so I found a female. A request came for Chiropractor, found that too. Then came weight loss therapy so, of course, I found one that does body sculpting. Then we added a more spiritual side for Reiki and healing of the soul.

I tell my amazing team, never say No, let’s figure it out. We have recently expanded and opened a whole separate clinic, but that’s for another time.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Determination, perseverance and networking. I spoke with a lot of successful people and kind of interviewed them as far as what made them who they are now. I read a lot of books on outliers. I took into consideration of what people told me or advised me. I chose what I would let stay with me and what I would let go. Many people told me I would never fill up a 6 treatment room office. Many people told me it would take 5 years to make or break me. We not only have filled up 6 rooms, but we expanded and added more and we have built an organic reputation of being one of the best in town in much less than 5 years.

We work as a team. We are all very happy and passionate at what we do and it shows and is felt by all. It is incredibly rewarding to take someone who is emotionally overwhelmed, physically uncomfortable or in severe pain and give them their quality of life back.

I highly recommend this amazing doctor!
I paralyzed my arm from a motorcycle accident, suffered a traumatic brain injury that landed me in a coma. That and many other issues I have had that her and her staff have REALLY alleviated for me.

Thanks again Acupuncture centers of South Florida.
Really hope to see you again soon!
