Inspiring Conversations with Veronica B. of Rainbowlicious Deelites

Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica B.

Hi Veronica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Rainbowlicious Deelites was originally conceived by my mother, Vivian S. Fun fact: it’s her featured on our logo! For a few years, during the holiday season, friends and family would turn to her to purchase her rum cakes and crema de vie – made with family recipes she had tweaked. And, at some point, she even did a Cuban cantina under the business! But, as life goes on and things happen, Rainbowlicious Deelites was temporarily put to the side.

Then, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in October 2020, the company I was working for closed down. Given all of the events of 2020 – it felt like Miami was ready for some cheer and starting crema de vie season a bit earlier, so we officially brought Rainbowlicious Deelites back to life! Starting with our family recipes for rum cake and crema de vie, we have now expanded to other items, including custom sugar cookies, custom cakes, and more!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Is there a smooth road anymore?! Life has its ups and downs – as has the business. However, most recently, Rainbowlicious Deelites has been an amazing silver lining in the middle of a global pandemic. The company I was working with closing down is what led to this rebirth!

Balancing my time is maybe the biggest struggle these days.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Rainbowlicious Deelites is a small home bakery based in Miami, FL. Though re-birthed in October 2020, our recipes are anything but new. Our rum cakes and crema de vie are made using family recipes, slightly tweaked over the years. And our custom sugar cookies and other treats have been tried and tested – guaranteed to please!

What sets us apart? Great recipes, great customer service, and great attention to detail. Each month we release a limited rum cake menu, perfect for seasonal treats; this month, for example, we’re offering gingerbread rum cake and dark chocolate peppermint cake – made with peppermint liqueur and a hit from last year! Other months we’ve offered flavors such as caramel Hennessey, chocolate orange, brigadeiro, and whiskey apple pie (made with Fireball!

We work closely with our clients on their custom orders to ensure their vision is seen in their dessert spread. From colors to theme to design, we work with our clients every step of the way!

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
It’s less one specific memory but more a series of moments. Spending time in my grandfather’s cafeteria kitchen – I couldn’t pick the building out if I drove by it today, but I remember weekend mornings spent there and the music video jukebox player (only one I ever saw, now that I think about it!); seeing my grandmother and her sisters, my madrina and tia abuela, in the kitchen every day cooking, going to my first concert, Jewel, with my mom, Noche Buena with the lechon en la caja china and the family dancing, laughing, and playing siete y media; traveling to Spain at ten years old and realizing how much bigger the world was than what I knew; all of these moments together are some of the best that define my childhood.
