Hi Tony & Susana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
We started ChinChile in the mists of COVID, while everything was shut down. Being from Chile, I noticed that it was difficult to find my favorite food products from my homeland in the USA and figured other Chileans were having the same problem. As it turned out, there were a lot of people struggling with the same issue. Before COVID, you would always ask your friends and family to bring a list of items from Chile when they came to visit, but during the shutdowns this was no longer possible. I mentioned the idea to my husband and we began to brainstorm ideas on how to bring Chileans around the world closer to their home through food that connects them with special memories from their past.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a new importing business during the covid shutdowns was challenging. We needed to get creative to find ways to import products since a lot of businesses were shut down and it was harder than usual to get things moving. The demand for the products was there, we just needed to navigate the logistics during tough times.
