Hi Jennyfer, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey into the field of accounting began 13 years ago, shortly after I completed both my MBA and a Master’s degree in Accounting. These academic accomplishments laid a strong foundation for my transition into the financial sector. Prior to launching my own accounting business, I spent eight years working in higher education, where I served as the Director of Admissions. That role honed my leadership, strategic planning, and organizational skills. The qualities would later prove invaluable as I stepped into entrepreneurship. My time in higher education not only deepened my understanding of institutional operations but also inspired me to pursue a career where I could directly support individuals and businesses in achieving financial clarity and success.
In 2012, I purchased my first franchise tax prep office where we serviced more than 400 clients. We experienced growth rapidly and then the opportunity to open a second franchise office came in 2016. We launched our second franchise tax prep office and soon enough we had grown both locations and were servicing more than 800 clients. But the growth didn’t stop there. After being with the franchise for nearly 10 years, I made the decision to part ways and start my own independent accounting firm.
In 2019, Beyond Tax & Accounting Inc. was born. I launched this business with the goal of being a full service accounting firm that provided services in small businesses accounting, tax preparation, bookkeeping, payroll, and tax resolution. Located in the heart of Tamarac, FL, our mission is to educate, advocate, and empower individuals and small business owners to understand and take control of their financial futures. I started BTA not just out of love for numbers which I’ve had for as long as I can remember but because I deeply believe that financial literacy is the foundational component of effective money management and building wealth.
Over the years, I’ve helped thousands of individuals and small business owners navigate audits, reduce tax burdens, avoid penalties, and get the peace of mind they deserve. Today, I proudly serve as the CEO and Founder of Beyond Tax & Accounting Inc. a full service accounting firm dedicated to serving our community with all of their tax and accounting needs.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road. Throughout my journey as a business owner, I encountered a number of challenges that tested my resilience, adaptability, and growth mindset. One of the earliest hurdles was transitioning from a structured corporate environment in higher education to the dynamic and unpredictable world of entrepreneurship. Building a client base from the ground up required patience, persistence, and strategic networking.
Another significant challenge was learning how to wear multiple hats—balancing client work with marketing, operations, and compliance responsibilities, all while maintaining high professional standards. There were moments of financial uncertainty and periods when work-life balance became difficult to manage, especially in the early years.
However, each obstacle became a learning opportunity. I invested in continuous education, leaned on mentors, refined my business processes, and slowly built a strong support system. These experiences not only shaped the direction of my business but also helped me grow into a more confident and capable leader.

I’ve built my business by consistently showing up, following through on commitments, and doing what’s right—even when it’s not the easiest route.
That consistency has helped me develop long-term relationships and a reputation for reliability. It’s that foundation of integrity that has helped my business grow and stand out in a crowded industry.
