Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrienne Sugimoto.
Hi Adrienne, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey started in Zurich, Switzerland, but my life has been a delicious mix of cultures. I’ve lived in Israel and New York City, and for the past 15 years, Miami’s vibrant energy has made me feel at home. Food has always been a passion, so I naturally gravitated towards studying nutrition and dietetics.
After an extensive time at Mount Sinai Medical Center as a clinical dietitian, I leveraged my well-rounded skill set in nutrition counseling and patient care, to service a diverse patient population in my private practice. Dietetics isn’t just about the science of food for me. I saw the power of food to manage chronic conditions, bring a focus to women’s health, and help people find a healthy relationship with weight – no fad diets here!
Becoming a mom of three amazing little ones added a whole new dimension to my world. Juggling motherhood with my passion for nutrition and wellness fueled my desire to create practical and sustainable approaches to healthy eating for busy families.
In my work, I celebrate the fact that every person is unique. There’s no “one-size-fits-all” approach, and I love helping people find what works best for them. I believe in a weight-neutral approach that focuses on overall well-being and celebrates the joy of food! Travel has also been a big part of my life, and I relish exploring new places and indulging in local flavors. For me, food is about connection, exploration, and creating a foundation for a healthy and fulfilling life!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The field of nutrition is constantly evolving, so staying current with the latest research and best practices requires ongoing education and adaptation. There’s a lot of conflicting information about food and weight loss out there. Combating fad diets and unrealistic expectations about healthy eating is a priority.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I bring a fresh and caring approach to help clients achieve their weight management, fitness, digestive disorder, gut microbiome optimization, and health and wellness goals. I am also experienced in guiding clients through chronic diseases such as allergies, diabetes, kidney, and heart disease.
I offer evidence-based innovative solutions through personalized consultations and programs. I deliver impactful telehealth nutrition therapy, empowering my clients to reach their health goals, and I pride myself on cultivating lasting relationships.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck has definitely played a role in my life and business, but perhaps not in the traditional sense. Here’s how I see it: Stumbling upon dietetics might seem like luck, but it stemmed from my lifelong love of food and a genuine interest in its impact on health.
And moving to Miami could be seen as lucky timing, exposing me to a diverse cultural food scene and a population with a focus on health and wellness. Sometimes a missed opportunity is luck in disguise, setbacks can be frustrating, but they also push me to explore other avenues and refine my goals.
