Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Burrows.
Hi Elizabeth, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Being a life and mindset coach wasn’t my original plan. I was always focused on building my career in the public and nonprofit sectors. And for a long time, that’s all I did. I worked hard and was doing well professionally. I fell in love with a great guy, got married, and we started building a life together. It was beautiful. Then I became a mom, and suddenly I felt like I wasn’t good enough for my own life. I didn’t know how to be the perfect wife and mom, or even the perfect professional anymore.
All of the different roles I played felt like they were in conflict with each other, and I couldn’t get my priorities straight. I was constantly overwhelmed. There weren’t enough hours in the day to do everything and not enough of me to go around. Something had to give, and that’s when I started on a journey of personal development. At first, I started a blog to share my journey. Then over time, I realized that as a life coach, I could make a bigger, deeper impact on people who were facing similar struggles. That’s how the Life Edit Project was born. I spent two years learning as much as I could about being a life coach. I felt particularly drawn to mindset coaching, which focuses on using thoughts and beliefs as tools to help someone create lasting change in their life. I’ve done a lot of work on my own thoughts and beliefs. In fact, the work is never done. But because I’m committed to doing my own work, I’m able to support my clients with anything they want to work through.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Becoming a life and mindset coach has been a true journey of persistence and self-discovery. In the beginning, while I loved the idea of being a coach, I was scared to put myself out there. I invested a lot of resources into building my skills but avoided promoting my services. It took me two years and a lot of my own coaching to work through the fear and truly accept my calling. By 2019, I’d turned a corner and the Life Edit Project began gaining some momentum. I was focused on getting results for myself and clients and started establishing myself as the go-to coach for women who struggle with Superwoman Syndrome. Then in 2020, so many people were struggling to cope with the coronavirus pandemic, economic crisis, and social unrest happening around the country, and I knew I had to do more. It was a real turning point for me, and I had to become an even better coach so that I could serve my clients in better ways.
As you know, we’re big fans of The Life Edit Project. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
The Life Edit Project started off as a platform to help women overcome their struggle with Superwoman Syndrome, so there are some great resources on the website. The blog addresses topics like self-care, motivation, and productivity. There’s also a resource library with some free tools that can help you in your own journey of personal development. I recently released a new workbook called Authentic Expressions to help anyone interested in beginning a journaling practice, or taking their practice to the next level. The workbook is available for purchase as an instant download on the Life Edit Project website, as well. Of course, mindset coaching is a big emphasis of mine, too.
The best way to learn about my approach to coaching is to follow me on social media, where I put out fresh content every day. I suggest browsing through the video archive on my Facebook page, too. I’ve talked about a lot of different topics already, and they’re full of practical tips and a fresh perspective. I want everyone to experience the kind of transformation that my coaching offers, but I’m not the right coach for everyone. And sometimes, coaching isn’t the right type of help. Anyone who’s interested in working with me as their coach should book a discovery call with me first to see if it’s a good fit. I currently offer six-week and three-month coaching packages, and I’m also launching a specialized 6-month program this spring to specifically help women overcome Superwoman Syndrome. So stay tuned!
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Being obedient to my God-given calling is the most important for me. I’m a woman of faith, and I’ve learned that God always has a better plan than anything I dream up. When I follow His lead, I’m set up to make a bigger impact, help more people, and reap more abundance and joy than I can imagine.
