Daily Inspiration: Meet Minaa Simone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Minaa Simone.

Hi Minaa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
From as early as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by people and their stories. Growing up in a musical household, creativity was at the heart of everything, we’d grab random items around the house and turn them into raps. That energy, that joy of expression, stayed with me. I always knew I wanted to bring light into people’s lives, and for me, radio felt like the perfect place to start.
But the journey wasn’t straightforward. At 17, I began working in PR with a company called Media2Radio, determined to learn the ropes and gain as much experience as I could. That hustle paid off when I was picked up by radio, recorded a demo, and saw it take off successfully. It was a full-circle moment, especially because performance had always been in my DNA. I grew up singing in the school choir, taking acting lessons, and even appeared on Blue Peter as a kid. That experience lit a spark in me that never went out.
Today, I continue to collaborate with brands I genuinely love and align with, while using my platform to share people’s stories, a role I feel truly grateful for. Alongside my presenting career, I also opened Akemi Beauty Clinic in Fulham, London, a passion project born from my belief that beauty isn’t just skin deep. Helping people feel good from the inside out is just as fulfilling as lifting them up through media.
Whether it’s through storytelling on-air or self-care in the clinic, my mission has always been the same: to make people feel seen, valued, and happy. And that, I believe, is my true purpose.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all, it’s definitely been a journey. One of the biggest challenges has been keeping up with what’s going on in the industry while still staying true to myself. There’s always that pressure to create content and remain consistent, which can be overwhelming at times. On top of that, I’ve had to navigate the doubts and concerns from my parents, who wanted to make sure I was making the right decision pursuing this path. Balancing their expectations with my own vision hasn’t always been easy, but it’s shaped me and made me even more determined to keep going.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I wear a few different hats, but at the core of everything I do is storytelling and making people feel good. I’m a presenter who’s had the opportunity to work with incredible platforms and brands, sharing people’s stories in ways that are relatable, fun, and authentic. I’m also the founder of Akemi Beauty Clinic in Fulham, where my team and I help people feel confident from the inside out through treatments that truly make a difference.
What I’m most proud of is that I’ve managed to build a career that brings my two passions together media and beauty, both centred around uplifting people. What sets me apart is my ability to connect. Whether I’m on screen, on stage, or in the clinic, people feel comfortable opening up to me. I don’t just scratch the surface. I listen, I care, and I create spaces where people can shine. That’s the heart of everything I do.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite memories is with my brother, we’d grab random items around the house and turn them into raps, or spend hours playing instruments and making up dance routines in our kitchen. It was pure fun, full of laughter and creativity. I don’t have him with me anymore, so those moments are something I’ll forever cherish. In many ways, I still carry that energy with me today, I try to bring the same spirit into Wicked Wordplay on my radio show, keeping that joy and creativity alive.
