Conversations with HoneyBerryDrip

Today we’d like to introduce you to HoneyBerryDrip.

Hi HoneyBerryDrip, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started making music because it was the one thing that always gave me a way to express what I couldn’t put into words. I started out just recording and experimenting, figuring everything out on my own and slowly building my sound, my image, and my identity as HoneyBerryDrip.

Over time, I started taking it more seriously. I built a real audience, grew my presence online, and eventually reached over 2 million streams worldwide and built a following of over 100K on Instagram and 10K on SoundCloud.

The journey definitely hasn’t been perfect. I’ve had a lot of personal obstacles, setbacks, and moments where I had to completely rebuild myself. But those experiences became a huge part of my music and who I am as an artist. Everything I’ve gone through has influenced my sound, my mindset, and the way I approach my career.

Today, HoneyBerryDrip is more than just a name I release music under. It represents everything I’ve been through, everything I’m still building, and the person I’m becoming. I’m still early in my journey, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come and I’m focused on taking it to the next level

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There have been a lot of ups and downs, both personally and professionally. Building a career independently comes with a lot of uncertainty you’re constantly trying to create, grow an audience, stay consistent, and figure out the business side at the same time.

I’ve also gone through some pretty difficult personal experiences that forced me to step back, mature, and rebuild parts of my life. There were periods where I questioned whether I should keep pursuing music at all. But those struggles ultimately became fuel for me. They gave me more to say, more emotion to put into my music, and a different perspective on life.

I think one of the biggest lessons has been realizing that progress isn’t always obvious. Sometimes you’re growing even when nothing seems to be happening. I’ve had setbacks, but I kept coming back to the music and finding a way forward. That resilience is probably one of the biggest parts of my story.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an independent recording artist, songwriter, and entrepreneur working under the name HoneyBerryDrip. My main focus is creating music that feels personal, raw, and emotionally honest while building a brand and world around the artist.

I specialize in turning real experiences, emotions, relationships, and struggles into music. A lot of my identity as an artist comes from blending darker, atmospheric sounds with melodic elements and lyrics that feel vulnerable but still confident. I want people to be able to hear a song and feel like they’re stepping into my head for a few minutes.

Outside of creating music, I’m also the owner and CEO of Gbds Records, so I’ve learned a lot about the business side of being an independent artist building an audience, developing a brand, promoting music, and creating opportunities without waiting for someone else to do it for me.

I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve been able to build something from the ground up. Reaching millions of streams, building a large social media following, and creating a real identity around HoneyBerryDrip are accomplishments I’m grateful for, but I’m even more proud of the fact that I kept going through the periods when it would have been easier to quit.

What sets me apart is that I’m not trying to fit into one box. HoneyBerryDrip is an entire aesthetic and mindset, not just a genre. I’m constantly evolving my sound and visual identity, and I want everything I release to feel authentic to me rather than something created just because it’s trending. My goal is to build a career that lasts and create music that people genuinely connect with.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I think the music industry is going to become even more independent, digital, and creator-driven over the next 5–10 years. Artists have more tools than ever to record, distribute, market, and build a global audience without needing a traditional label to get started.

I also think AI is going to have a major impact, both creatively and commercially. It will make certain parts of music creation and marketing more accessible, but at the same time, I think authenticity will become even more valuable. When everyone has access to the same technology, the artists with a genuine identity, unique story, and real connection with their audience will stand out.

Short-form content and social media will continue influencing how music is discovered, but I think we’ll see artists become more focused on building actual communities rather than chasing individual viral moments. Fans want to feel connected to the person behind the music.

For me, that’s exciting because I’ve always approached HoneyBerryDrip as more than just making songs. I’m building an identity, a brand, and a community around the music. I think the artists who learn how to combine creativity, technology, business, and authenticity are going to have the biggest opportunities in the next decade.
