Conversations with Eila Algood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eila Algood.

Hi Eila, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
On October 1, 2022, I’ll be opening my new store called “Raise Your Vibration” in Hawi, Hawaii. The purpose of the business is to provide tools and techniques to people to raise up to be their best selves. The idea came to me some months ago as I found myself in a supportive role to each of my adult children in their life pursuits and I thought “what am I doing in my life that feels meaningful?”

My wife and I own retail space in town and as I imagined what would be an asset to the community based on my unique skills, passion, and abilities, operating a retail store came to mind. In the 1980s and 90s, I used to enjoy going to new-age bookstores, but with the rise of online books, most of those disappeared. As one who studied psychic development, spirit communication, energy healing, and other esoteric subjects, this business is a place for me to share my love of the unseen world.

I will sell items infused with loving energy such as Native style hand drums and flutes, crystal singing bowls, Tibetan healing bowls, high vibe art, spirit channeled books, American Clay earth plaster, and jewelry. In addition to selling merchandise, I have created a meditation room and a room for psychic/tarot readings. As one who has lived through my share of dramas and traumas, I’m ready to share the wisdom I’ve acquired through this exciting venture!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest struggle has been in my mind. I’ve had to embrace that nothing is perfect and to go with the flow of changes as they present themself. I’ve never worked in retail so there is a lot for me to learn intellectually. I have a very keen connection to my intuition, but that alone can’t keep track of inventory so I’m learning how to set up systems in the shop to make the day-to-day work effortless.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a writer and have recently published two books; one a novelette and one a poetry book. I’m a photographer. I bring my artistic eye to all that I do, including this new business venture. I am a radio personality. I currently host two radio shows: Women’s Voices which plays sensational songs and spoken words by female artists from around the world; and Intuitive Talk Story in which I co-host one full hour of speaking about what’s happening energetically.

My co-host, Michal Anna Carrillo and I share tools and techniques to help people live their happiest, most fulfilled life. We discuss ways to feel the best in our body, mind, spirit, and emotions. I’m most proud of my ability to listen and hold space for people; to be an empath without taking on others’ emotions; to love without expectation.

I’m living the dream; I share life with my wife and our dogs and cat on our off-grid farm in Hawaii; I am on the radio a few times a week, I write and publish my written work, and I have two amazingly kind, loving and dynamic adult children and one adorable, smart little grandson whom I love.

Four years ago I was obese and got a cancer diagnosis, but with determination and support, I now live in trim and healthy body. My mind and my emotions are healthy. I’m at a point in my life where I feel incredibly strong and able to give back to others without depleting myself.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Oh yes, I have. Be true to me first. Trust my intuition about my body. I was excited when I heard the drug companies were developing a vaccine, but once it rolled out, I decided to not get it. Oh boy, not a popular decision in my family, in my community, and our country.

Yet here I was, healthy, trim, strong, and I didn’t want to be injected with something that I didn’t trust enough.

When I had to travel by plane, I went to my naturopath and received a vitamin C boost IV. I made sure to eat healthy foods while traveling, get enough sleep, take walks and meditate daily to keep my immune system working at its best.

My reason for not getting the vaccine was personal and not political. It was and is about my freedom.

I did test positive for coronavirus in July, which I refer to as my covid vacation because I rested for 6 days due to low fever, but otherwise, I felt okay. I realize through this experience that we are each living in our reality and sometimes our realities overlap and sometimes they don’t.
