Community Highlights: Meet Sara Shulevitz Vorhand

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Shulevitz Vorhand.

Sara Shulevitz Vorhand

Hi Sara, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I am a Miami-based criminal defense attorney. I served as a Miami Prosecutor from 2002 to 2005 and a Public Defender in 2006. After I went into private practice. I am also licensed in the United States Supreme Court in DC, New York, and Michigan.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Litigation is challenging and the stakes are high. I enjoy challenges and hard work and to be the best advocate for my clients.

As you know, we’re big fans of the law office of Sara Shulevitz. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I specialize in criminal defense and family law. I am compassionate and an aggressive advocate for my clients. I handle the most serious felonies and misdemeanors.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
When I started 20-plus years ago, two decades ago court filings and documents were filed in person at the clerk’s and with the Judges chambers and served by hand to the state attorney’s office now things are more high-tech with electronic filings.

A lot of court and depositions that were solely in person are now shifting to Zoom and Microsoft Teams. It is important to be up on new technology. Evidence and discovery are in sent electronic files instead of by papers in the mail. Technology keeps improving and as an attorney, it is important to be on top of this shift.

Also, evidence is location, pings from cellular towers, GPS and from phone towers, surveillance in the street, text messages, social media posts, etc so there is in a way more work to overcome in order to exonerate one’s clients.
