Community Highlights: Meet Michele Bruno

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michele Bruno.

Michele, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Michele and I grew up between Lazio and Umbria. They are the two most central regions located in the so-called ”Green heart of Italy’’.

After visiting the States, I felt a particularly attractive energy that led me to move to Miami in 2014. This city has allowed my mind to expand and open up to the possibility to build something significant. This place represents my acceptance of cultural diversity and freedom of creation in all aspects of life. In other words, I felt free to create in my own unique way.

I started my career in the Beauty industry, first by graduating as a professional Cosmetologist and then by continuing as an apprentice to then becoming a Hairstylist and Salon Manager. After only 4 years of focused work, my entrepreneurial nature led me to open my own Store in Little River, which has been a great success as a business owner.

Right at that moment when the pandemic hit, after meditating on what my next moves were going to be, I chose to switch careers into a field where I felt I could grow limitlessly by expressing myself even more.

The Hairstylist world made me grow tired, and the extensive contact with the public became more stressful than beneficial, so I chose to create a business that would best fit my lifestyle and intentions: I always refer to this as ”I decided to create my own environment”.

During my time in Italy, I grew up making Wine and Olive Oil with my family. Especially by observing my father’s passion for food, I acquired traits that have stayed with me since then. Throughout the first 7 years spent in the United States, I made connections and friendships, many of which I hosted dinners for. I was joyful and humbled to see that they all ended up giving me great feedback of admiration for the food I was preparing.

Everyone, especially friends that know me well, has tried to talk me into opening a Restaurant of my own. When I had the opportunity to do so, I remembered once again that overwhelming feeling of public contact every single day.

It’s something that I didn’t want to experience in my life again, at least for now. That is why I created, Mimmi, a brand that has a range of different branches involved in the Culinary world where I could be in the backseat as a creator and express my true self.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has been definitely challenging, switching careers so drastically and building a business from scratch required a lot of time, energy, and faith. I don’t believe in ”smooth roads” anyway.. what gives value to anything is the wait and work you do to create it.

As you know, we’re big fans of Mimmi. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Mimmi is subdivided into different branches:

– The first branch is specialized in the creation of High-Quality Frozen foods, which are then sold to Hotels,
Restaurants and Gourmet Grocery Stores. All our products are carefully selected and made out of the best ingredients from local suppliers. What sets us apart from others is the higher quality of our products.

– The second branch is specialized in selecting the best quality products from Brands around town and promoting
each other through collaborations. We also resell their products on our online platform.

– The third branch is specialized in the creation of kitchen-related tools and appliances.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Definitely, I thank my family who had supported me every step of the way with their presence and they were the first investors in my business. My Girlfriend inspired and lit a sparkle in me for the creation of this brand and supports me every day. My mentors were incredibly important for my self-development.
