Check Out Kaylee Lanzas’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaylee Lanzas

Hi Kaylee , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Kaylee Lanzas, my DJ name is Bonitaapplebumz but people call me Bonita.. I have family DJ roots so I’ve always been around music my whole life. They have always been an inspiration for me & I’ve always had a connection to music, art and anything creative. I started Djing around the year 2018 I used to play at house parties. Now I play at venues, clubs and bars all around Miami.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been definitely a bumpy road as everything in life is. The struggle at the beginning was COVID hitting and everything getting closed down and postponed. It was pretty hard to come back out there especially if before COVID I was barely out there. Besides that.. of course technical difficulties were always there too.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My work is very true to myself.. my core work would be Djing but I also like making graphic art designs and flyers. Never realized I had that second talent until I had to make my own flyers for my own events. What I specialize in would be setting the scene and atmosphere for the event. I creatively select very specific songs that go with the theme or the vibe of the event. What I’m most proud of would be how far I’ve gotten and there’s still more I haven’t experienced yet but I would say I’m very proud of how I can run events, make art and see my craft come to life. What sets me apart from others would definitely be my selection in music, I like to play things no one has probably heard yet or something that hasn’t been played in years. I believe that creating the best memories is discovering something new or feeling nostalgia when hearing a song you haven’t heard in a long time.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Yes, I have taken a major risk in putting myself out there as a DJ. I grew up very shy as a kid and even now and then I still get very nervous and shy around people. But honestly DJing has made me come out of my comfort zone. It was the best risk I’ve ever taken
