Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexander Orue.
Alexander, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I was born in Miami, Florida; my family is originally from Cuba as both my parents were born there and came to the states at an early age. I can proudly say I’m a Kendall native, pretty much have lived here my whole life. I have always been a huge fan of music and especially electronic music; I would listen to bands like The Chemical Brothers, Prodigy, Rabbit In The Moon, and DJs like Sasha & Digweed would be the ones to capture my true love for progressive house from that era…I mean I basically learned how to properly mix records listening to these guys CDs for hours and hours, and I wanted my mixing to be as clean as theirs was. NOW how I became a DJ was all just a coincidence. I was a fan of the music but at around the age of 17 in the late 90’s when there was a great rave scene in Miami and Florida in general. My brother and couple of friends decided to bring me along to one of these parties and thats when I truly connected with the vibe and culture. I can say right after that I bought turntables and the rest is history. I have played venues, festivals, block parties you name all over Florida, Texas, Arizona, Vegas, and the Caribbean. Locally I have done 2 Ultra Festivals, countless pool parties during WMC/Music Week Played Club Space, Eleven, Nikki Beach, Clevelander, and the list goes on and on I can’t really remember them all.
After a while just playing records got boring to me, so I decided to get into music production, I decided to attend Full Sail in Orlando, so I can get familiar with music production. I can say this it did help but everything that I have done today was all from just trail n error and locking my self up in the studio AND watching other local dance music producers work, but someone can only teach you so much, you gotta bust your ass if you want to be the best. I have over 75 originals and remixes out, and I can say each record is special to me, some I hate and some I LOVE, but I know that each record has led me to the next record. I have had songs featured on some of the worlds top dance labels such as Ultra Records(USA), Enormous Tunes(Swiss), No Definition(Swiss), Sirup Music(Swiss), Nervous Records(USA) Fattie Music(USA) and many more. My tracks have been played by some of the worlds top DJs like Tiesto, EDX, Benny Benassi, Local legends like Oscar G, Robbie Rivera, George Acosta and yep even Sasha & Digweed have played my tunes. So I guess you can say it’s like a complete circle effect, I was listening to all these guys, and now they play my music.
I recently just released my new Single “Life” with my greek buddy Pansil on Enormous Chills, which is over 20k streams alone on Spotify in a short matter of time, I also dropped my single “HomeBoy Flow” on my Fattie Music imprint and had another remix come out on Breeze Records for Pansil’s “That Girl”. You can find all my music on Spotify where I average about 25,000 listeners a month or Apple Music as well. I’ve held two radio residency as well on Sirius XM En Vivo and recently was the host of Detox on Miami’s own Revolution Radio 93.5 FM.
Now I have decided to start my own label to release my own music and give new and established talent a way to get out there without the big label hassle. I’m calling it Fattie Music, and in a short time it has been received with great success and support from audiences, And it isn’t just a music label as I have branched off and started Fattie Wear a streetwear line catering to Music/Skate & Surf Culture and just an overall streetwear brand to bring Miami to the forefront. A full launch is in the works and should be all out later this summer…
I’m sure there has to be stuff I missed, but this is a small glimpse of my story.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I’m a Dj/Producer/Remixer. I create Dance music or house music however you want to call it. As for as my music having a message I would say it all depends on the song or remix Im working at that exact moment. My single
‘Life” which is out now on Enormous Chills that I wrote with Greek Producer Pansil has its own message the song is about moving on and getting over the past and has a really big emotional feel to it. But then you listen to another one of my records like “Everyone” or “HomeBoy Flow” which are both out on my Fattie Music imprint and they are straight up club jams, party tunes with a feel-good dance vibe.
As for my music I just want people to listen to it and sing along and feel good.
Artists rarely, if ever pursue art for the money. Nonetheless, we all have bills and responsibilities, and many aspiring artists are discouraged from pursuing art due to financial reasons. Any advice or thoughts you’d like to share with prospective artists?
This is true; it can be tough… But all I can say is this If you want it bad enough you can have it, it isn’t about having the best gear, the fastest computer, it’s about being persistent and never giving up… Talent isn’t learned it’s their in you. One cool way to do it if you want to get involved is to find a job at a studio and that way you can use the gear in your downtime. It worked for me.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
You can catch me at any of my gigs around town to hear me spin, just follow my social media to stay updated. And also make sure to follow me on Spotify or Apple Music my entire catalog is available on there. And of course, with the launch of Fattie Wear this summer you rock some cool threads. Just sign up at www.FattieWear.com for launch details.
