Meet Genesis Bonilla

Today we’d like to introduce you to Genesis Bonilla.

Genesis, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up, I’ve always been fashion inclined & looking at fashion magazines for inspiration & new ways to style myself. I started out as a wedding photographer, along with my husband, Gus. But since I’ve always had an eye for fashion, I decided to reach out to local influencers to photograph their style. As time went by, my team & I started shooting & filming during fashion month: NYFW, MFW, & PFW. This had led to me to work with designers, brands & top influencers today. Recently, we started to branch out into covering the Miami aesthetic, as seen in @geninmiami. We will soon launch our print shop at shopgenandgus.com.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I work with all types of people & brands from all over the world, so I’ve had to develop the photography skills needed to deliver for each client’s needs maintaining my shooting style & aesthetic. It takes discipline and persistence to get to that point.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about @Genstreetstyle – what should we know?
Genstreetstyle is known for high-end street style/lifestyle. Clients come to me when they’re seeking a high-end fashion look that matches the aesthetic found in established fashion magazines.

What do you love about our city and what do you dislike?
I was born in Little Havana, raised in Hialeah. Currently, living 20 minutes away from the Keys. Miami is full of transplants that might only focus on hip upcoming neighborhoods, yet along with my husband, we have lived in different parts in the 305, way before the 786 existed. It’s difficult to not like something that’s been a part of your whole life. Miami is home, I take it all the way it is.
