Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Pascale.
Olivia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born in NYC but raised in South Florida. I attended FIU for two years but haven’t completed my bachelors yet because life’s opportunities have led me elsewhere, and I’m okay with that for now. I started my social media journey about five years ago and it has evolved into a part-time business/hustle. I started with just posting modeling photos, which evolved into me partnering with brands to receive product and promoting them, which then evolved into using my platform as a service for brands to advertise through. This wasn’t necessarily my plan to start, but it happened and I couldn’t be more thankful. I’m able to be my own boss, make my own schedule, travel very often, and have creative freedom.
While I am a full-time model, blogger, and “influencer,” I’m exploring business ventures outside of the world of social media, because I want to build a foundation for something that is more dependable and in my control, while still giving me the freedom to work for myself. I care deeply for people, and if there is any message I am trying to promote through my platforms it’s an inspiration to push people past their self limiting boundaries of what they believe they are capable of.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’m fortunate enough to say that my story has been pretty smooth along the way. Of course, there have been hiccups here and there, but nothing major enough to stand out in my memory.
Here are a few minor challenges that could have a better outcome:
I spent four months out of 2018 in LA, giving modeling a shot in the LA market. I signed with a major modeling agency that I was very excited about! However, once I was out there, I was only sent out on a hand full of auditions and castings. I put myself in a bit of debt trying to keep up with my bills in Miami & LA, especially since I wasn’t getting any work. Of course, I can’t put the blame on my agency, thats just the business. However, I did have high hopes for my time out there and it was definitely disappointing, waiting around for auditions that never came.
This experience forced me to pivot mentally, which in hindsight, I’m thankful for. A few months later, my priorities have changed and I realized that I would rather be recognized for my mind than my appearance. I’d rather be in Forbes than in Victoria Secret.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with your business – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Right now, my full source of income comes from a mix of modeling, blogging, and influencer work. For modeling, I work mostly in the commercial industry. So, literally commercials you see on TV. My last few big jobs were commercials for Home Depot, Hardrock, Days Inn, Exxon Mobil, etc. I have been doing that type of modeling/acting work since I was nine and I love it. It comes naturally to me and I love being on set and watching all of the moving parts come together to make it happen.
For my social media work, I work with brands on a weekly basis, creating sponsored content and posting it on my blog, Lovelivv.com, or my Instagram. I have gotten this process down to a T. In the last few years, I invested in a camera (SONY a6300) and have taught myself Lightroom, which is a professional photo editing program. I have built a personal brand around my lifestyle and choose to create content based on my brand aesthetics. I try to keep things fun, happy, light, and most importantly, real. I don’t work with brands that I don’t believe in. For example, I am naturally thin, so I would never promote any time of fat burning or appetite suppressant. I have gained a trusting relationship with my audience and I take pride in that! If I wouldn’t recommend a product to my mom or sister, I won’t promote it on my blog or IG.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future actually include something completely unrelated to social media. My business venture, and what I’ve been investing a lot of time and energy on for the past six months, is my real estate investing business. It is very exciting for me and something that will eventually evolve into a full-time career. I will probably still do my social media work, but on a smaller scale.
I’m really looking forward to running and growing my own business.
