Today we’d like to introduce you to Juan Pablo Castro.
Juan Pablo, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I’m an industrial designer, photographer, and videographer. I was born in Colombia and moved to Miami 8 years ago where I started to build a career as a photographer and videographer.
I always had a strong passion for art and images which lead me to an internship land eventually as an assistant to several Miami fashion photographers.
I started taking pictures of myself and friends, and little by little opportunities opened up in the fashion and art industry.
I am blessed for the mix of experiences, imagination and the passion I get to express myself thru images.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I consider my art as a big influence on my background; I used four words to describe my work:
1. Industrial because my dad and mom used to own a hardware store, so I get attracted to deconstructed scenarios.
2. Color I think is always implicit in my work, I’m from Colombia, and the whole country is an explosion of colors and variety.
3. Shape, my industrial design background is also represented in materials and shapes that I love to incorporate in my images.
4. Futuristic will be the connection of the other three words. I’m always thinking about representing how the world looks right now and how it will look in a no to far future, I would say I’m curious about what’s coming next and how fast this world is changing.
I graduated in Colombia at Icesi University as an Industrial designer where I learned how to use the suite of Adobe, and these are the tools I’m constantly using for the kind of art I’m developing these days. I’m a mix of different techniques and the use of tools for an imaginary result.
I create images to express no to impress, and my goal is to impact the world creating big messages for the community thru my eyes.
Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
I think this world needs leaders and strong people to change the world so let’s all be one.
Investing in yourself will define who you are and your aesthetic. Remember every single opportunity that comes to you is chance to learn something new so always be open about learning and listening.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
