Today we’d like to introduce you to Bruno Esposito.
Bruno, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Well, I don’t come from a musical family at all. I’m the last of four children who were all born in Peru from Italian immigrant parents. And when I was born we almost immediately came to Miami (the late 70s) I grew up in Miami and as a kid we had a record store near where I lived that I would frequent and purchased my first cassettes it was jimmy reed where the cover had him playing guitar singing and had a strapped harmonica. I was fascinated by this mans ability to play two instruments very well and sing simultaneously through a song. So at the age of 12, I asked my mother for a guitar, and she gave me a $5 harmonica instead and that pretty much started my journey in music. In my teens I picked up bass then upright bass, banjo, guitar, etc… after growing frustrated with bands I started a one-man band, and this lone Wolf one-man band was born.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do, why, and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I’ve played in some great bands. But since 2010 I’ve been a one-man band, and that’s the best feeling one can experience as a musician (in my opinion) to be able to do it all yourself is a great feeling for me and different gigs create different shows. The freedom to be improvisational whenever you want with it is very liberating and has made me develop an interesting relationship with myself in which could be very dysfunctional at times. The music I try to represent is very beat driven with melodic catches and deep growls that are very early blues driven with a punk rock energy and songs about folklore and real life.
What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
I’m successful every day in my heart. You gotta really work hard if you’re a single father and in this business. I make pizzas and repair instruments on the side.. as well as other things. I juggle a lot these days. But I have my mind, my abilities, and health so that to me is being successful though I strive to be more productive and ambitious with the hopes of accomplishing things that will inspire people for generations to come.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
Thanks for asking. You can find my music if you just google Lone Wolf OMB or (one man band) you’ll find streamers, dealers and all kinds of sample feelers.
