Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr Etti.
Dr Etti, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my journey when I was nine years old – traveling with my parents to the Far East and discovering that children just like me were very poor and hungry. I said to my Mother – Mommy one day – when I grow up – I will adopt a baby. Fast forward 35 years – and I did!! as part of my passion to serve this world and be a force for good.
I had few epiphanies in my life. When I became a therapist, I discovered that people realizations as to their pathology not necessarily results in their healing and I started incorporation food, juices, fasting, breathing and other healing modalities in my practice that proved to be very successful. 14 years ago I created the first group Juice fasting program in Miami and supported thousands of people in their journey towards better health and happiness.
Today – I am a partner and Senior VP of Innovations at Dr Smood – a chain of boutique Cafes in SF and NYC.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Haha – whoever feels you he/she had a smooth road is in denial.
Very bumpy road – I had severe asthma as a teenager – a time when you want to be cool and party, I had to be in the hospital hooked to oxygen and take steroids that made me bloat. I had to stop dancing and became a recluse with very low self-esteem. I actually suffered terribly growing up in a small town where I felt neglected by my parents. I was also raped twice – all of which was devastating to my self-image. I came to the US with $2000.00 and a wish in my heart – to be able to make a difference. Despite my humble beginnings, I was determined to be able to make an impact and my yearning to do that gave me a voice that was bigger than my insecurities and which propelled me forward.
As I am evolving – I realize that all my struggles (there were many) gave me an opportunity to show up!!
I truly believe that G-D firmly said to me – you have the tools and I am giving you the opportunity to use them.
I learn to thrive not just to survive and become the woman I am today 🙂 hear me roar!!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Dr Smood – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

Walking barefoot in the fields with my dog cookie. Eating pita dipped in chumus and olive oil with my father in the Arab village next to our house.
