Meet Kasey Render of Family Dreams Fitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kasey Render.

Kasey, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve had an active lifestyle my whole life. I played basketball, football (for a brief time), track and field, etc. I knew in high school that I wanted to have a career in the health industry but I also knew that I never wanted to work for someone else. I’m really big on ownership.

I went to UCF and Majored in Sport and Exercise Science with a specialization in Strength & Conditioning. I also got a Minor in Coaching. At the tail end of my college career, I decided to plan for my business. The first name I came up with was Family Dreams Athletics. I later changed it to Family Dreams Fitness after interning with the UCF athletic program as a strength and conditioning coach. I’ve always had a passion for sports and my initial goal was to train athletes at the collegiate and professional level. But after being around only athletes during my internship, I realized I wanted to train the normal population as well.

After graduating college, I interned at a private Physical Therapy clinic as a Physical Therapy Technician. My goal in this was to learn injuries and preventative measures so that whenever I had a client in the future, I would be better prepared if they got hurt or were coming off of an injury. While working as an intern, I got promoted to a part-time position. I then got a job as a YouCoach (personal trainer) at Youfit. I took this job with the specific intention of learning corporate fitness. My end goal was to learn from the inside out so that when I had my own business, I could compete.

I worked at Youfit for a little over five months then moved to a private studio gym where I officially started Family Dreams Fitness. After being in Orlando with my own business for about eight months, I moved Family Dreams Fitness back to Miami where I’m originally from. This was in the summer of 2016. Since then I have been expanding the business from being just a mobile personal training company to a global health and wellness platform. Now I am partnered with multiple companies, nonprofits and creatives to help make this world more healthy and positive one person at a time.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has been very far from smooth. Before I got certified to become an ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist, I failed my exam twice. After overcoming that, I went through a bad depression and was suicidal after my relationship with my ex-fiancé ended. The ending of our relationship wasn’t the sole cause of me being suicidal, it was a combination of a lot of life’s struggles happening at once. After that things started to look promising. Minus the constant struggle for money as a new business owner/entrepreneur, I have been maintaining a steady growth. Behind the scenes, I continue to have life struggles and family issues but my personal struggles have been manageable due to extreme focus and self-discipline.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Family Dreams Fitness – what should we know?
On paper, I am an ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist. I offer mobile personal training, group training, corporate training, online personal training plus more. I am partnered with a nonprofit called South Dade One Voice Community Coalition as well as The Spot Wynwood. Both of these partnerships are geared towards helping to improve the well being of the community. I am most proud of my growing influence in the community and others following suit. I am also proud of the progress I have been able to make independently with the Family Dreams Fitness Website (www.familydreamsfitness.com). The last two years we’ve seen a 300% increase in page views respectively. The website is a free platform for any person in the world that wants to become more healthy and positive.

What sets me apart from others is that I am a chameleon. I blend in with any situation and am very relatable. I am also extremely authentic. I don’t fear life and don’t fear being unapologetically myself. I’m not afraid to fail in front of the world which frees me to try my hardest and slowly grow organically.

The biggest thing that sets me apart is that I want and allow others to win in their own life. I encourage it to the fullest.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The quality that is most important to my success is brutal honesty. I don’t like sugar coating life because life is cut throat.

I am brutally honest with myself and others. I do everything out of pure love and care because life is too short to play games without substance.
