Today we’d like to introduce you to Brett David and Brooke David.
Brett and Brooke, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
One day in 2011, a father brought his terminally ill son, who was a car fanatic, to our dealership, Prestige Imports | Lamborghini Miami. After explaining his story to us, we offered to take him for a ride in a Lamborghini. From the moment the boy got into the car he was smiling from ear to ear and had this glow on his face that his father had never seen before.
When he got back from the ride, we knew we had just done something very special by making this very sick boy feel amazing. Who would have thought that a 10-minute ride in a Lamborghini would make a child feel alive again? This was the beginning of our foundation’s journey and how we came up with the name, Ride2Revive. It was simply what we had just done.
As founders of Ride2Revive, we fulfilled a dream to share our world of exotic automobiles. Our unique and altruistic organization provides children who are undergoing medical treatment for life-threatening illnesses, with unforgettable adrenaline-filled experiences. Each event is meant to distract them from their health-related struggles and revitalize their senses.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Looking back, as we approach our 8th Annual Ride2Revive Track Event, there have been many trials and tribulations, as with any new organization. The first five annual events were held in large parking lots with orange cones marking a makeshift track. Each year we strived to make the event bigger and better.
Since our organization is strictly about these children, we always envisioned them to have the opportunity to experience driving on a real race track in their favorite car. This will be the 3rd year that our event takes place on a professional racetrack at Homestead Miami-Speedway, and we couldn’t be more thankful for their support.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Ride2Revive – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
When we first started our Foundation, Ride2Revive, we always knew we wanted this organization to be focused on making a direct impact on these children, who are plagued with cancer or other life-threatening diseases. It was very important to us from the beginning that we specialize in making a difference for them and their families.
Many different organizations are focused on raising money or other various elements, but we wanted to have instant gratification. Aside from our annual track events that these children look forward to all year, we have a special relationship with Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, where we are on speed-dial for whenever a child is having a rough day, celebrating a birthday, or simply just a car fanatic.
We love bringing a Lamborghini to the hospital and taking them for a dream ride. We truly provide Miles of Smiles on the Road to Recovery!
What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?
One of our proudest moments thus far was at one of our track events when a mother came up to us crying because her 7-year-old son, had never spoken a word before, not even mom or dad. We had a Lamborghini wrapped in the character Lightning McQueen from the movie Cars, which happened to be this child’s favorite.
As soon as he arrived at the track, he was overwhelmed with excitement to see this car in person, that he started to shout out, “Keen!! Keen!! Keen!!” That was his way of saying, McQueen! It’s moments like these that encompass the true meaning of what we do. We provide not just these children with an unforgettable day, but their families are so incredibly grateful to see their child feel revived again.
