Today we’d like to introduce you to Charissa Davidovici.
Charissa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
The idea to create Sugar Factory came about while discussing candy at the dinner table. We realized candy is one thing that everyone loves and just like that the world-famous Couture Pop was born, but we didn’t want to stop there. With this signature bling accessory and celebrity fans as our foundation and beginning, we wanted to combine candy create excitement for an experience and a place for everyone that went beyond the typical restaurant and confectionary shops.
Sugar Factory is a family business that started as a small confectionery store in 2009 at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas. The brand then grew to a second location: a little larger confectionery with a cafe component. Following the great success of the first two locations, we opened a third location a couple years later that was a full flagship store and Chocolate Lounge. Fast forward to today, we have more than 24 locations in various cities across the globe, the most recent one opening at Theatre Box in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter.
Other concepts we have opened in Miami include: Nick Cannon’s Wild ’N Out Sports Bar and Arcade, iLove305, and Happy Place Donuts, which will be expanding to Ocean Drive in the new year.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing is easy, but let’s say it has been an exciting journey of pure hard work. Similar to what we teach our children “If you want anything in life, you need to put hard work into it.” We have overcome our biggest challenges with the support of one another. Family and love is a large part of how we’ve been able to grow this business.
Sugar Factory – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Sugar Factory American Brasserie is unique as it provides a place where children can enjoy sweets and treats while adults bring out their inner child. The expansive menu has someone for every type of guest and all of our signature candy-infused cocktails can be made without alcohol. Guests love to order our signature goblets as servers pour each one tableside and magic happens. The environment is happy, upbeat and always fun with favorite tunes, celebrations of every kind and luxury accents in the design.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
We have been very blessed as a family that this idea we had has grown into an internationally recognized brand, and that what we do everyday brings other people happiness.
