Today we’d like to introduce you to Nile Fortner.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m a multimedia journalism major currently attending Florida Atlantic University seeking to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Multimedia Journalism sometime in 2019. I’ve always loved writing, arts, and entertainment – so as I grew older, I began to express myself more through written work and through my hobbies I became a helping hand. I decided to go beyond just creative writing and expand myself to see if I could do other things.
Those other things being a helping hand to some of the websites I contribute with. I still love contributing, but recently I’ve started my own blog. The blog offers exclusive content that doesn’t go to the sites that I contribute with. That’s what makes the blog special to me. I get to find do something new, gain experience, and family and friends have been recommending I do it for a while, especially since of my major. I’m surprised how much the blog has grown since I’ve first started and I’m happy people are enjoying it.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The main struggle with starting a blog and making your work public all on your own is the struggle of finding your unique voice. Everyone has a voice and a way to express themselves. But, in my short time, it’s been a challenge to get out of my shy bubble to express myself and find a way to separate my written work from others – such as adding a little creative splash to journalism and other aspects of entertainment stories.
We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I enjoy doing feature articles, and I’m also a video content creator, interviewer, and critic. I started making videos for Cinephellas.com, and recently I’ve made an exclusive YouTube channel as well. But I’m mostly known for covering local South Florida art and entertainment aspects. I can also be found contributing and sharing his passion with My South Florida Today, BocaWatch, and other media outlets.
But I believe what sets me apart from others is how I really do try to make my writing feel very descriptive. Some people have enjoyed it, others are not so much. But I believe as a writer, storyteller, and journalist, your reader or viewer has to feel as if they experienced the story, event, or news with you. That writing technique isn’t just for my recent blog, but for every aspect, I can apply it to,
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Honestly, everyone gets a shout out, because, whether they’ve been seen as good or bad, they’ve played a role. A role in testing you, teaching, you, and shaping you into the good person you are today and have always been. But I believe my family and friends deserve a lot of credit for always supporting me – even if sometimes I think they don’t know what to fully support.
But recently, my classmates at FAU, Logan Myerz of Cinephellas for inspiring me to grow more, always my mom and Dad, everyone at BocaWatch like Jessica Gray, and Brett Diaz of Hook360 and My South Flordia Today. They’ve all have been cool and supportive for a while now.
