Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Valentina.
Andrea, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my blog while living in San Diego, California. I had always been interested in fashion and my mom told me that she could help me start a blog where I could write my thoughts on it. The blog started off strictly on style, where I would write about the latest trends and fashion shows. Eventually, I ended up getting more involved in travel after visiting over 27 countries. I love the way that I can express myself through my posts and help people find new places to shop, ways to wear certain items and also give advice when it comes to traveling in style.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have been a few challenges when it comes to reaching out to brands and companies to collaborate. I didn’t exactly know how to structure my emails, but I caught on to it. Growing an audience is also a challenge, but I’ve learned that hashtags and location tags on Instagram help a ton! As well as cross promoting certain posts, it helps to bring a lot of engagement.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with your business – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I like to bring honest opinions to my readers so I focus a lot on some of my favorite brands, where to buy their clothes and how to style it. Mixing fashion and travel is also something I love doing as well. I love bringing them together by giving advice on how to dress when going to the airport, my go-to beauty items when going on a long flight, etc. Interacting with my readers is also super important to me as I love tailoring posts to their questions. I actually started something brand new on my website where people could fill out a questionnaire on what they’d like their wardrobe to be and I’d make a post for them with outfits and certain things they were looking for tailored to their taste.
Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
When it comes to the fashion industry, I feel there are no barriers to female leadership, the sky is the limit! Women in this industry are all empowering and teaching us that we are capable of anything.
