Today we’d like to introduce you to Rodolfo Troncoso.
Chilean guitarist and singer/songwriter Rodolfo Troncoso has made a name for himself performing around the world since he was 15 years old. Currently based in Miami, Rodolfo performs all over the city in private and public events. Throughout his career, he has shared the stage with such names as The Gipsy Kings, Kenny G, Alex Fox, and Kenny Rogers and has performed privately for many celebrities including Jennifer Aniston and Attorney General of the United States Janet Reno amongst many others.
From 2003 to 2007, Rodolfo toured the U.S. as a Classical Guitar Soloist performing with various Orchestras including The Lima Philharmonic Orchestra, The San Jose Chamber Orchestra, and the Michigan Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to live performances, Rodolfo is an accomplished composer and producer. He composed the main theme for the soundtrack of the independent film, “The Last Semester.” He also wrote the music curriculum used in the Gyrotonic Exercise System and produced up and coming local Miami Jazz artist Jahzel Dotel’s debut album, “Leftovers.”
Rodolfo holds a BS in Audio Production from AI Miami International University.
Has it been a smooth road?
While in high school, my talent on the guitar had a clear path forward. I was offered an opportunity to go to the Classical guitar program at the University of Miami with a scholarship. Unfortunately, at age 18, I suffered a brain stroke that left the entire left side of my body paralyzed. I was the 3rd case in the U.S. to have a brain stroke at such a young age.
The recovery took me about two years and, after that, I gave up on music and moved to L.A. to pursue acting. But fate had me meet a music agent called Chris Ling from CHL Artists of Beverly Hills. He saw something in me. He encouraged me to start playing again and later represented me and got me booked to play as a soloist with several Symphonies in the U.S. and Canada from 2003-2008.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Satori Sounds – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I am a guitarist am I also founded and own the boutique Audio Visual company Satori Sounds. I started Satori Sounds in 2011 as a legal way to organize all my music activities and finances. While I was getting my Bachelors of Science degree in Audio Production, I began to get jobs doing sound for events and recording studio work.
Since then, Satori Sounds has grown to become a multimedia and A/V company. We have produced conferences and events for such clients as The Miami Design District, Adobe Systems and Sodexo Talent Acquisition Group as well as award-winning documentaries such as “Carry That Weight, a Rockumentary” on the story of Doug Burris.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I love most about Miami is its diversity and its celebratory spirit. I make my living performing for all types of events from weddings to corporate meetings. It’s amazing to see how people come here to hold their events and celebrate special moments. It is really cool to be a part of what makes this city so unique with its music and latin flare. As a Spanish guitarist, I almost feel like a representative of my culture to all the visitors and I love setting the atmosphere to so many special moments.
What I don’t like about our city is the level of superficiality in the people. Miami, I feel, is like a mirage of luxury and money that makes people always on the lookout for the next best thing. It’s hard to make real connections here and the culture of wealth only ads to this. For example, Art Basel or the countless luxurious condos being erected each day are just a few examples of this culture of wealth, exclusivity and appearances that alienate the locals that simply cannot afford the lifestyle. I find that to be more exaggerated here than just about any other place… and I lived in LA for a while.
