Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystal Kunyue Zheng.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Krystal Kunyue. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Walking through downtown Miami last year, I was disappointed to see the number of small boutiques and national retailers that have closed their doors due to the rise in online shopping. I wanted to use my marketing and creative background to formulate a solution that would benefit both businesses and consumers.
I had the chance to work at Synkt Games, a local tech startup, based at CIC Miami which is the hub of South Florida’s startup and tech scene. After meeting groups of entrepreneurs who are passionate about solving social problems and making an impact, I decided to put the project’s wheels in motion a few months before walking the stage to get my diploma.
As a generation Z gamer and shopper, I am dedicated to gamify the current marketing process and city lifestyle. With gamification, we are making brick and mortar shopping more relevant to younger generations. And now, our product SAVR app is launching at two locations in Miami: FIU and Wynwood.
Has it been a smooth road?
I would say it depends on what is considered a smooth road.
Overall, I think it has been because I definitely received an amazing amount of support from our community such as startupFIU, Babson WIN lab, CIC Miami and many many mentors and support networks.
On the other hand, I have also experienced a lot of pivoting points where original assumptions were just dead end. And I definitely remember a comment from an angel investor I met in Barcelona. He asked me “so, you just want to do your “xxxx” little game?” So, it definitely wasn’t all green lights.
Whether I consider it smooth or not, I am still here, thriving to create the innovative gamification of lifestyle and traditional marketing to benefit both businesses and communities.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the ARVISL Future, INC story. Tell us more about the business.
ARVISL Future is a technology company that develops cutting edge location based augmented reality technologies to envision a gamified future walkable city. And my current focus is on the first product, a mobile application called SAVR. SAVR app revolutionizes how people live, shop and play casual games. SAVR is a real life virtual scavenger hunt game with real life incentives displayed in augmented reality. For businesses, SAVR is a powerful tool to drive real measurable and reachable foot traffic to physical locations.
For example, you are walking your dog at Margaret Pace Park a hot afternoon. Your phone buzzes and you open SAVR. In front of you, you will see a delicious ice cream from Lulu’s ice cream in augmented reality. Just walk by and now you have a free ice cream ready to redeem at Lulu’s ice cream in your SAVR app.
I know I talked a lot about gamification, and of course, in SAVR app you will experience a fun city exploring storyline that takes you through discovering hidden vibes in each neighborhood of Miami.
As SAVR launches in Miami first, ARVISL Future will take it to other walkable cities and bring valuable foot traffic to very worth-discovering places. ARVISL Future is to bring people out and into their communities with a fun virtual scavenger hunt experience. I would love to see ARVISL Future merge the gap between current online digital traffic with real life foot traffic.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
As I am working on the gamification of the marketing process, I am seeing this industry emerging as more engaging and interesting. I think attracting a younger generation who are more adapted to technology requires combining what they like and are used to into the process. The innovative change should be similar to seeing social media marketing replacing traditional TV ads. More technology will be applied in the industry such as AR, VR, and MR. Especially marketing in games will welcome a huge wave. And as technology develops, marketers will be able to understand the relationship between digital clicks and real life conversion rate (foot traffic into physical location and purchase). This at the end of the day will be a win win for consumers, businesses, and investors.
