Today we’d like to introduce you to Kareem Virgo.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I am a wedding and lifestyle photographer based in South Florida but travels worldwide. My passion for photography sparked years ago when I started my career by offering free sessions to build my portfolio in college. Ever since I have had the privilege of documenting timeless love stories ever since. Whether it is the “calm before the storm” moments while preparing at a nearby resort, the emotional vows at the altar or dancing the night away at the reception, everything about “love” and the ability to preserve these moments is what continuously drives me to make sure my clients Relive Each and Every Moment. It is truly my getaway.
Please tell us about your art.
I specialize in wedding and lifestyle photography. I consider my work to be very natural, modern, crisp and vibrant, with a little bit of a vintage mix. I tailor my editing to the overall mood and style of the client. I also consider my work to be very believable to the eye. I want viewers to feel that if they reached out to the image, they could actually be at that session again. When it is all said and done, I want people to be inspired by the consistency of my work and the love I have for photography, and that the images I produced reflected that passion. The money is just a bonus.
What do you think about conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
I think it has actually become a lot easier for artists today, especially with social media. You can now get your work out there on various platforms and invest in advertising to showcase your work. You really get what you put in from it. Cities like ours should always promote the concept of “art,” and a great way to do that is to host local art appreciation events for creatives such as photographers, painters, poets, dancers, etc.
