Christina, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
From the very beginning of my career as a licensed Full Specialist and Natural Nail Manicurist, I realized my expertise and professional recommendations influenced my client’s health and beauty decisions. I also knew the secret to have healthy glowing skin and nails required both at-home and professional care, however; I had no control over the products being used in a spa treatment or retailed for aftercare at the salons and spas where I worked in my community. Even though these spa treatments may have target results I knew that people with special skin health needs and health conscious individuals would be frustrated because most of the products contained harsh chemicals, toxic preservatives and synthetic fragrances that could irritate skin or cause allergies. With customer care and safety as my main priority, I decided to design and formulate an alternative natural nails, hand and foot care line infused with 100% all natural and botanical ingredients that aren’t tested on animals. I wanted to create a spa enhancement line that not only delivers safe and obvious results naturally but that you can use right in the comfort of your own home. Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting a product line from scratch has definitely been a challenge, but one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever gone through. Especially, when I sit back and realize the impact I’ve made to date. I’d say the biggest struggle I’ve had to face when I first launched my line was introducing a new concept of self-care to our community. When it comes to self-care, a majority of people believe that taking care of your hands and nails isn’t as important as taking care of the skin on your face. That’s no true. Protecting your skin and nails helps to prevent infections and provide you with important clues to your overall health. As for a young woman who wants to start their own journey, my advice to you would be if you have an idea that has the power to change lives go for it – chances are there are many people out there who could benefit from your idea no matter how small or silly it might sound. Be confident in yourself and believe in what you have to offer.
What should we know about Cilverbow Botanicals? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I have been a licensed Full Specialist for the past six years. I specialize in makeup, skincare, hair removal, brow and lash care and last but not least nail care. My work has been published in Maxim South Africa, Elements Magazine, Esquire Magazine in Singapore and even on the runways of Miami and New York Fashion Week year after year. Throughout all of my success in my career, the biggest impact I think I’ve made in my industry was becoming a natural nail manicurist. I’ve helped so many people with different conditions develop healthy skin and nails over time where they pretty much gave up hope. I’ve had so many of my clients tell me “I wish I could put you in my pocket and take you home” and it’s funny to think about sometimes, because now they actually can since I handcraft each and every one of my products myself. The one thing that has set my brand apart from others is that as a licensed professional I do have a unique and different perspective because of all of my experience’s in the industry so when it came to creating my brand I knew my dedication wouldn’t stop at providing just skin and nail care but sharing my expert knowledge as well.
Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
There is only one woman who has inspired me to reach for the stars and that is my mother. She is to me the true definition of an empowered woman. She leads by example and encourages me to feel there is something worthwhile to become and do with my time here on earth. My mother has had to sacrifice so much for me to be where I am today and she is the only person I know that has stopped at nothing for me to succeed even with my new business venture. That alone has always been enough to keep me motivated to do my part and make her proud. My mother has challenged me at every point in my life to be a better version of myself, she’s taught me so many lessons and even through learning my own lessons she has always had my back, she’s believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself and she is still the only person in this world that know’s me better than I know myself. When I became a mom – to my three-year-old daughter Catalina – I knew I had to make her feel just as empowered as my mother made me feel every single day of my life.
