Meet Ashli Katz of Creative Movement Method in Miami Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashli Katz.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I grew up as a gymnast and dancer. Music and movement have been an engrained passion for me for as long as I can remember. Being a movement teacher for almost a decade, (spin, barre, dance, yoga, etc.) I felt and still feel the fitness industry has become all about the end result. The common question you’ll hear in most classes is “what are your goals, why are you here?”. Although I love to push myself and I believe there’s a need for those questions etc., I wanted to find something that got me less in my head and more into my body. Creative Movement Method was born. Taking my love of dance and music and how much release it gave me combining it with my love of yoga and it’s restoration of my breath, I mashed up the two to give an outlet to return back to my truest self. To move without expectation and be more in embodiment, it started as a personal practice that I want to share with the world in hopes that they connect with the same.

Has it been a smooth road?
I think the biggest struggle for anyone creating something “on their own” or “doing their own thing”, is to not compare or be compared to others. It’s easy to fall into the place of feeling inadequate or dare I say undeserving because there’s so many others doing what you’re doing. But that’s exactly why you must keep going. Inspiration derives from many things, particular people and/or experiences. The most common question I receive is if CMM is like xyz or so and so etc. My answer is always yes… and NO. I’m not trying to be anyone else but myself. I believe there’s enough success for everyone and as long as your “why” is because you want to, you need to, it lights you up inside and you love it … DO IT. No one is you, stay true to who you are and what you want to create/achieve/dream/believe. Stay focused on YOU and not what anyone else is doing. #inspirationnotimitation

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Creative Movement Method story. Tell us more about the business.
I think I specialize in teaching movement – meaning a true sense of what something should feel like or how to achieve it.

I’m most proud of the support I receive from clients and the community. To know that I’ve played an impactful role in someone’s development that leaves them elevated, or has changed their life for the better is the best feeling in the world.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see the fitness/wellness industry making huge strides in nutrition and what we’re putting in and on our bodies, which is awesome to see, as it’s such a big component to how we are as people – mentally, emotionally and physically.

The trend of Boutique fitness will continue to grow. I see more and more fusion workouts in the boutique fitness industry (dance+yoga, cycle+boxing, barre+Bootcamp) as well as shorter duration workouts and more digital platforms. Our society wants everything, NOW and it be delivered lol…
