Natalie and Lauren, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Born and raised in Miami, we’ve always had fashion & gorgeous beaches in our backyard. We grew up spending most of our time wearing swimwear, and we understand how swimwear is an expression of individuality & style. Inspired by the world’s finest beaches, we decided to create Nirvanic Swim in June of 2016.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We are two sisters that otherwise probably would’ve have been unlikely partners in business. We found each other’s strengths & defined our weaknesses. We could take a dream and make it into a reality by leaning on each other and pushing each other to take the necessary risks. There is something to be said about working with your family; the level of respect & trust you have for each other allows you to take bigger risks and with bigger risk there is bigger reward.
Please tell us about Nirvanic Swim.
We create & design women & men’s swimwear.
Our women’s swimwear is made in Bali, Indonesia. Each print is hand designed by Lauren and we work with our suppliers diligently to perfect the fit of each swimsuit. All the swimwear is designed to be seamless.
The men’s swim trunks are fully lined with a comfortable mesh & the printed fabric is treated with quick dry technology making them flexible as well as comfortable.
We aim to have our swimwear be an expression of individuality and style.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
We would have probably started the business a lot sooner than we had now knowing that there isn’t ever a perfect time to take the leap & that the risk will always be present.
